Well,

I'm winding down here at work , getting ready to leave for two weeks on my boat. I'm outta here in about 10 minutes.

So, I'll be hearing the marine 6b almost everyday instead of the truck 6b... .

:D

So I'll still be gettin' my diesel fix, but I can actually go watch her run , listen close up to the turbo whine, and smell the exhaust up close and personal while underway. Something that is impossible in the truck. And if I really get bored I can take temp readings with my infrared temp gun, and do geeky crap like that while the wife (and the autopilot) run the boat.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I will be incommunicato for a while...

I'll have to catch up on my reading at the end of July.

Later.

:D

I'm back!

Russell... it's a 270... the boat can't handle the 370.

Next year I may go back to the Chesapeake again like I did in 01, and 02... . I'll let you know and we can install the C

Deezul 1 ... ... Block Island!

Jay ( a very relaxed Jay I might add)

Well, that's a rig for you!

One engine's enough to maintain on a boat, plus I'm already overpowered for the hull design. The boat now can do (big deal) over 18 knots, and the boat really won't handle well after 16 knots. It's a semi-displacement hull (with a full length keel) and the ass end comes out of the water too much to remain stable.

Max speed with the original power (160 hp) was 11 knots.

But she sure is efficient and has great range. :D

well since we're talking about boats, I seen a sweet boat on ebay last week. 1986 Corsa 30' cigarette boat, Twin "A" series Cummins:D Man I would love to have that boat:D last I seen it had 45 min-1 hour left and it hadn't hit $15,000 yet. What hp/ tq is the A series rated for?

Thanks, Steve

Ever see what happens when you put 1200hp into a 40 foot lobster boat? :D Oo.

Cummins Communication...

The "A" series were small 6 and 4 cylinder engines... . may be a 3, I am not totally sure. these engines were actually onan designed, and happened to be the main reason that Cummins bought Onan. Onan was developing these engines at the same time that Cummins was working on the "B" series. Cummins figured too close for comfort in market share and bought Onan. The "A" series are real "cute" little engines, don't see too many now, they ran good, but I heard that they did not like overspeed too well. Also they were available in turbocharged configurations.

If you need more info, let me know,

Russell

Oh yeah..... not like a "B" in power either. I think that the six put out a top of around 120hp with a turbo. However, they were both smaller in size and displacement.

Matt, I feel you, but come to work with me once, like yesterday and thursday, rocker box and front gear housing job on an ISM in a cab over... ... . sheesh now I know why I am tired  But on the other hand running the dyno can be a blast :D

Russell:

How does your back feel? Every time I work on a cabover I say I'll never do it again.

Last one was a little Isuzu... . helped out doing a clutch job... ... .
