Drtrox- VALUABLE does not even begin to describe it. I am just glad the motor lasted through it

note: I wouldn't be poking fun if it had done serious damage. Nobody deserves a third strike :( :p

In spite of the weather, we had a great turnout. Over 70 trucks, including several Fords, and one Duramax. Thanks to all for making this a great, fun event.

We'll let Greg tell his own story; the GOOD news is, he made EXCELLENT numbers.

This Show Was A HUGE Sucess,Thanks To All Who Braved The Weather...

Well after just getting home here a short while ago, sitting down and listening to my daughter banter about her wonderful day I will post the numbers first for all to see and then add my notes afterwards. I'd like to personally thank all who came, braved the weather and seen a whale of a show. The last count I had someone attempt to do brought us a total truck count near 80. It was hard to keep track of them as they came and went all day long while guys were tuning. At any rate, here they are with their best loud pedal shot put forward and in no particular order for all to see. Best HP first,Best Torque last... .....

And thats all of the group who tried their hands at the "Humbler" after a winter of parts and tuning. As you can tell by who was on the jet there was alot of tuning and some shop testing being done. When I keep thinking there is not going to be much going on you guys and gals prove me wrong. Its a real good thing Dave and Chris didn't ask me how many would show up today as I would have been dead wrong. This show was a great sucess in part by the group who braved the weather to come in and play. I'll drop my other notes from the day on the next post as I can tell I am getting windy again..... Andy

The very first and most important thing on my mind is thanking the ENTIRE Kauffman Motorsports Crew. To have a great show like this you need to have a quality shop run by a great bunch of people. With questionable weather and mud which accompanied it they still stayed right at it and kept us moving right along. They keep amazing me with their ability to keep us on our toes and the show storming right along. MANY THANKS GANG ON A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!!. Its was very refreshing to see Nancy there for a while today and smiling from ear to ear. Get Well Soon Nancy!!!!.

The way these shows keep growing it amazes me as I keep remembering what we started with a few years ago. Its nice to see the growing numbers of Ford owners who are now beginning to join our fun and realizing that we do have a good time. The numbers are always on everyones mind, but, its about us all enjoying the one thing that keeps us coming back, the trucks. Ol Joe coming back with his sky-high lifted Duramax is a real trooper. With him being the ONLY Duramax owner who slips in to enjoy the fun he should get a medal for the muck we all sling on him. One thing is for sure he has a fine looking truck which he is not afraid to throw at us other owners.

Another guy who works hard but yet still can not seem to shake the monkey off his back is Dieselfreak2(Dino). Dino has one of the nicest looking trucks in our group,is not afraid to drag race, sled pull or get it muddy and still show-n-shine it. I have yet to figure out how he keeps the bottom so clean so he can show it and the only thing I can think is the ease to get under it with the lift. One of these shows the monkey will leave him alone and I'll get to see that wide smile and see him go home happy. Keep up the hard work Dino, your time is near and maybe we can slap the boys at the truck show with a number.

I will say the true "Hard Luck" award of the day has to be given to Dockboy. I'll let Greg explain himself what happened but I will tell you all he got a nice ride home from me in my DODGE!,LOL. I am not sure if he will post tonite yet as he was pretty tired when I left him so I will wait a bit before twisting him some. The torque numbers from his V8 Stroke are amazing to me and they chase away the "urban legends" of Fords can not make power or torque. One only has to wonder what this truck will accomplish when he gets the combo sorted out and is not as touchy.

A couple of last quick notes and I will go add the numbers to the other boards. Thanks need to go out to the new Mason-Dixon TDC officers elected today,Dockboy our new VP and SWexlin our new Membership/Treasurer. Thanks to Rams-N-Hogs,JStyer and Shovelhead for wheeling the Gas Grill and cooking up lunch because without them we all would have lost our figures today. A HUGE "Thank You" goes out to the Dually Owners and the Stack Equipped owners who tolerated the new rules and our learning curves with them. It was greatly appreciated by all of us inside the dyno bay. Time for me to bow out for a bit, post the other boards full and get some well deserved rest. I'll drop in and some other things tommorrow, again from me... THANKS TO ALL WHO CAME OUT TO THE SHOW!!!!..... Andy

Had an Awsome time as usually today despite my usual carnage!!! :-laf

Andy, I can't thank you enough for giving Jody and I a ride home!! And to all who offered to help today, Thank you!!! You guy's and gals are the greatest!!! :D

I know there will be plenty of pics and videos floating around soon, for I while ther I felt like I was being attacked by the poporotzi :--) :-laf :-laf

But I thought I post some pics of the destruction for those that had left by the time Jody and I pulled the turbo

A couple of things I observed and missed in yesterdays posts...

Thank you to DrTrox who always is on hand and taking huge amounts of pictures which allows those who couldn't make it see what went on. I know Don works hard at it all day long and walks his tail off to get them and at times is overlooked. The extent of his coverage was shown to me when I drove Dockboy back to his house in Maryland. Greg said at one point he walked by Don's laptop which was running the pictures as he downloaded them and couldn't figure out when he took that shot,LOL. Just goes to show you Greg, they are watching you   :-laf :-laf .

Thanks to the owners who took the rest of the pictures and videos as I am not sure who all they were. Those who did take some need to contact me so we can copies of them all gathered up to be loaded on our clubs website. If you want PM me a email address and I will get back to you. I can tell you this from me,if it wasn't for the picture being taken I would never get to see the show at all.

Now for some quick notes about my views from the inside...

There were some owners who were first timers and Non-dieselbaord members at all. To listen to them ramble about how they liked the show and all of our trucks shows me the word is getting around some now. 2 of the newbie owners were dissappointed in their numbers but realized they need to step up their programs. When asked by me about why they were dissappointed all they did was say what we all already knew, the "Humbler" will show you what you really gained and not the hype the manufacturers claim.

The one which impressed me in stock form and confused me when a box was added was the "Catcher" ECMs. When Git-R-Done's truck was on the jet I was impressed in how fast it allows the stock 24 valve motors to pick up fuel and spool up. Little or no lag time was evident up front which is a common problem of those motors and Don's Catcher equipped ride came on early and held fairly well. Later when we ran one with a VA Box on DLeonhard's truck it didn't perform as well and actually made less power than the same fueling box and a stock ECM. They get that little glich worked out and us 12 valve guys could be in trouble as the improperly valved trucks will make the power come to them alot easier.

Its amazing to me how many owners have gotten the "stackitis" disease now and we under bed exhaust owners are becoming extinct. Our ol buddy Oasis-3 started that disease a few years ago and its spreading like wildfire. Myself,I still have this fear of cutting the big hole in the bed or I would do them,LOL. It was a good thing Cliff was off working hard as I am certain a few wives would have strung him up yesterday :-laf :-laf :-laf . BTW Cliff,I am supposed to tell you the club Beer Miester was missed greatly.

Dockboy...

Its was not a problem taking you home after your mishap. I was just glad I was able to help a fellow member out when they needed it most. Knowing how much you work on the truck and then riding home in a DODGE had to be hard and something I will not let you forget,LOL. If you need a hand with getting it repaired make sure you call. I'd gladly come down when you get the parts in and bring you back up to pick it up.

Spending the day with my old pal Shovelhead, who doesn't get out very often due to work conflicts, made my day. Ed has one of the sweetest looking 2wd duallys and works hard to keep it that way. Us bending each others ears all day in the dyno bay kept my mind of other things and I appreciated it. His help to John and Jim while cooking was appreciated by all of those who ate at lunch time.

Then you move on to the files of the unbelievable and see the Porters sweet 1998 Quad Cab Flame Red Sport SB 5spd 4x4. While most would look at it and think nothing out of the ordinary the truck actually is rather unique. Its build date was 11/97 and its equipped with a 24 valve motor and the 12 valve door badges. Thinking this is not right and bogus to me I chatted with Paul about it and will stick a post up in the 24 valve forums and see what comes of it. No changes were made to the truck after they purchased it,other than the engine mods/stacks,the outside and inside are as shipped from Ma Mopar and it was never wrecked. So the old saying or thought that the 24 valves motors were not installed until after Jan of 98 may be incorrect.

Time to do some things with my Daughter so I will look in later... ..... Andy

Andy, I noticed that too. I saw pictures of myself and others, and didn't remember Don being around!

I think that we're ALL in agreement that the biggest thanks should go to you. Without your help and guidance, these shows wouldn't be the successes they are. Before, with the organization, during, with keeping us all in line, and after, with your eloquent summaries, it is greatly appreciated.

You could easily write a book using your show summaries over the years. Thanks again, Andy.

P. S. -

Thanks to all our members who have put their faith in me as MDTDC Treasurer. More information will be forthcoming withing the next few days, as Don and I have some administrative and banking details to work out first. I'll then update the MDTDC site to reflect the new information, put up a thread about any changes. Please bear with us during the transition period. Thanks.

Scott

Andy, You don't want to stack another timing both on top the the first version catcher.

The box I provided Doug at no charge was to be ran with a fueling only box.

too much timing on the top results in lower hp.

We have 2 versions of the catcher available.

Thanks

Greg, your upbeat attitude in the face of adversity continues to amaze me. Believe me, we all get our digs in, but greatly admire the work you have done with your PSD.

Hopefully, once the new turbo is in, she will be as strong as ever. And oh, congratulations to my fellow MDTDC officer. :D

I concur, no matter how bad we pick on him about his ride, he always laughs and jokes about the situation at hand. Credit has to be given to him for his good attitude about it all.

Now, Greg, tell me you didn't have to be taken home in Hammer's CTD ... . :-laf WOW... ... You will NEVER hear the end of that one... ... ... :-laf At least until Hammer has to be taken home in YOUR PSD. :-laf

Update On Dockboy's Turbo Incident

Well, as it turns out there is more involved then was first thought. Might even involve a liability issue and subsequent lawsuit!

Seems the horrific explosion has had a traumatic effect, with possible loss of livelihood (see photo for clarification)

Little guy had a heck of a scare. Heard he is filing for workman's comp too. Something about a major threshold shift in his hearing!

Hey Dockboy, I'd try to retain a good lawyer, I hear this guy's attorney is a real rat!

Just viewed the video, I don't think this is going to help your case any!

Bob. .

That makes sense to me then why it did what it did. Thank you for clarifying it for me. I will say that with what I seen of that ecm and the sound of how the engine responded to it was incredible. The electronic motors are usually known for slow spool up and when equipped with the Catcher it was not noticable at all.

Git-R-Done. .

Yes Dockboy and Jody were given the tour of Southeastern York County by me in my Cummins. Heck he even learned a shortcut or two which would save him some time coming up,no wait,he was lost most of the time, except for when I had him on I-83. Would I retain that info for a later time, hmmmm, could be. The reality of the situation is he would have done it for anyone else and I was just glad to help him out. He "tried" to offer me a refund for the fuel I used and was resoundly told NO by me as I wouldn't take it. Ride home with him, certainly, heck,he still owes me a ride but he keeps breaking the dern thing before I get free enough to collect that ride.

Don. .

My side is now killing me from that one,oh thats a classic and one which needs to be saved for later use,LOL. :-laf :-laf :-laf

I did forget one thing from the show though and that was Bloomy's patience. Tom wanted to try and get back on late in the day and with the number of trucks yet to dyno he jsut lost out to time. He had made a few changes in his truck while others were on the jet and with time running out he never got a chance to get back on. I apologized to him and told him I would accomodate him first next time we spin and he told me no problem. Thanks Tom!.

One other side note. .

The last few Fords which we dynoed are a small group who run some sled pulls up in Snyder County here in PA. They had asked me if we had any interest in their schedule or would be interested in coming up and I told her to email the list to me. They were very impressed with the show and all the trucks also. As sson as I have any of their info I will pass it along to those who like to participate in pulls. I did tell her my truck doesn't get dirty so I would watch to which she asked me why did I own a truck. I guess if I had to explain the reason why then she would never understand,LOL... ... . Andy

Andy,

Thanks again for putting this together under the circumstances. It was great as usual!! Don't worry about the dyno. I have been going to enough of these that I will get another chance. I got to go once and wouldn't have felt good if I went twice and somebody else didn't get to go at all.

Dockboy, I hate to see something like that happen to anybody. Thanks for being such a good sport. Congratulations on your VP position. Just think a ford guy as the VP. What is the world coming to!!!!! ;) Seriously hope it all works out for you in court. The little fellow in the picture will get a lot of jury sympathy. Trust me I know!!!

See you all next time.

Thomas
