I'm thinking of going with either 245/75R's (31. 5" tall & 9. 8" wide) or 265R/70Rs (31. 7" tall & 10. 7" wide). The factory 235's tires are 9. 3" wide and 31. 8" tall.

Can you get 10. 7" wide rubber on the back without spacers? I know a while back there were some posts with pics but I can't seem to find them.

IIRC, a while back several people went with stock 265 Michelins off the single wheel trucks. Seemed to work fine if you don't overload the crap out of them.

I've run three sets of 265 Toyo A/Ts off two trucks, two sets of 265 BF Goodrich Rugged Trials on another, working on three more, and sold and mounted several dozen other sets for customers. I've never had any problems with rubbing unless a rock or tree limb gets wedged inbetween the tires from inside the rim; and that's a 3" rock or so. Loading and tire inflation go hand in hand... ... I don't like spacers as they take away from your center piloted hub strength. Now, the 315s I just mounted on my '03.....

I have run 265 Buckshots and running 265 Copper STT now. On second set and no problems with no spacers. Know a couple guys running 315 with 2" spacers in the rear.

are you guys running loaded with 265`s? Pin weight on my 5er is 2100#, don`t want an issue there. Thanks for the info! Guy from Discount tire said they do 265`s all the time with no problems... ..... just sayin?

I'm not loaded all the time, but I'm usually loaded over 2100 on my neck weight (yeah, I know, it's overloaded). I'm often grossing over 20k, and usually run 60/40 trailer to truck. I've never had any issues other than tire seperations and rock drillings. The 265s really helped reduce seperations, and helped a lot with traction.

As long as you don't exceed 102" wide, you'll be fine. Any wider and you will need an oversized load permit to go to the grocery store :-laf

:-laf YEAH!!! But it wouldn't be so bad if they'd give drivers an IQ test before issuing a driver's lisence!!!:D (Would be even better if they'd give them an IQ test before they could reproduce..... )

One beautiful thing about tires extending past your fenders is you can bump and grind a little when you need a little space at Wal-mart... . :D Just watch out for those sharp, spinny, thingys on those small speedbumps/lowriders... . they can cut a sidewall and give your Dodge some indigestion... .

Does anybody know what is the TALLEST 17" tire available that will fit an '03 dually 4x4? I don't want to use spacers and I am not looking for anything wider. Looking for tall and skinny.

Thanks a 3500 (ton)!!

Bob

The tallest tire available in the 17" line is the 265/70R17 or the 245/75R17..... the 265 is calculated at 31. 6 and the 245 is 31. 4, and is a bit narrower.
