Max speed (High idle) adjustment screw, umm where’d it go??

Well, I'm not sure why, when, or how, but it is gone... I bought a "replacement" threaded rod, but can't find any info on how to properly adjust it. Can anyone give me a hand?

If you have a tach just set the RPMs at about 3400 or 3500. That is the high speed stop. I just set mine by using the pedal and run it to the floor. I would start with the RPMs low then gradually increase them until you get to where you want to be. Hope this helps.

Hah! Let's put it this way. If I removed it in my quest for power, I don't remember doing it... From Bob's post, I'm good if the rpms don't go above 3500. This engine needs to last me a couple more years.

You will also need two nuts on the adjustment screw at the back of the rear of the stop screw.

I have also used this to get 1st gens through state mandated "snap test". They use - pump the go pedal then hold to the floor and then measure the opacity test at max. RPMS. The VE with a 3200 GSK starts to defuel between 3200 and 3300 RPMS so when you hold the pedal to the floor,at 3400 RPMS, your pump is defueling and smoke goes down. I've seen trucks in WA go from 40+ on the opacity meter down to 4 on the opacity meter with this little trick.

Have Fun
