BrakeSmart Controller

The dimensions for the threads on the tee that came in the kit for my truck are like this:

Left(male thread) is 3/16(M12 - 1. 0) inverted flare

Right(female thread) is 3/16(M12 - 1. 0) inverted flare

Top(supplied brake line) is 3/16(3/8 - 24) seat

The paperwork that came with the maxbrake says that the sensor is 1/4 npt.

The numbers for the tee came from Hydraulicstore.com, fitting #7921.

I ended up installing mine last night with the supplied parts due to not enough time to recieve/find the right fitting before I will be towing next week. I will continue the search later.

Hope this helps.

I hope this link works. The part looks like it has the dimensions that MGreer specified. If it doesn't work, go to hydraulicstore.com and search for 7921.

The only thing to keep in mind is that those dimensions are for the tee that is supplied with the Maxbrake. The top thread is not the same as the sensor, the sensor should be 1/4" npt. The places I have talked to couldn't help me out due to the metric part of the tee.

When I search again I am going to call McMasters for help, unless someone else comes up with a part number before I do.

Im still lookin too. Found plenty of the part that THoltz listed. The tricky part is finding one with the 1/4" NPT thread on the top. If someone finds a source that had the 1/4" NPT in it, PLEASE post it up.

I Love TDR!

Thanks

Thanks for the clarification MGreer. I re-read your post with the dimensions, and I initially missed the part about the top fitting was for the supplied brake line, not the transducer. Any how, thanks for the follow up post.

i solved the problem by using a tee that was 1/4" on all three fittings. cut the brake line inserted the 1/4" fittings on the brake ends, then double flared the ends. assembled the lines and the 't' fitting, then bleed the air out.

Completed my maxbrake install yesterday. I couldn't find the correct "T" either so used the fittings that came with it and added a close nipple, comp. union, with two flare gaskets on each side. Looks just like morbius's install except for the addition of the nipple.

I will attach pictures. I have discovered I don't know how to attach a picture. Looks like I have to put them on a web site or something. Maybe I can check it out later today or someone could give me a hint on how to do it. Thanks

Fitting

I called max brake today and spoke to Coty. I told him about morbius's fitting. I asked him what size the sensor is. This is what he told me.

3/8IFx1/2JICx3/8IF

If anyone finds this fitting can you post it here where you got it from?A phone number or web site would be a great help. I hope someone can find this. I hope this helps us.

I have been looking for this fitting as well, spent several hours at local vendors looking and cannot to no avail find one here in AK, Big Surprise!

I installed my Max Brake using the supplied hardware in anticipation of finding the correct fitting.

Holy Crap this thing works great! I threw the Tekonsha Voyager in the trash!! I am grosiing up to 24,000 when loaded down with family, gear, and moose buggy for a long weekend. This handles the load so much better! Well worth the money IMO.

Congratulations.

I've been saying for years the best place for a Tekonsha brake controller is exactly where you put yours.

Just put 935 miles on my new max break. To say the least -- I am impressed!! Didn't know trailer braking could be this good.
