That's good! My buddy bought the Maxcare for $2700 from Dave Smith. He never used it and Ram refunded the entire amount. He handled some minor issues himself.

Never heard of that before... Interesting. They got really lucky.

I've often heard the case of either buy a warranty or save money for repairs.

They offered me the same deal and the contract guy was pissed when I declined. Dave Smith. In OCt. of '06 I ordered mine and there were so many rebates back then. They were unreal to deal with. The accessory dept even came through perfectly. I guess they've sold and things aren't so great. We might be looking at getting a 2024 Subaru Forester or the Honda CRV gasser.. I'll probably get something with all the electronics.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 21' 3500 w/32,000 on it from a Dodge dealer. Anyone know if the Max Care is possible for a used truck ?

As long as it’s within 3 years of its in service date and under 36K miles you can purchase a mopar warranty.

refund ? Was that the unused time? Credit on trade in?
So if my maxcare has expired & I never used it I get compensation/ refund?

Yep! If you don't use it at all, you can receive a refund on it. Surprised that you weren't told that when you purchased it. I know that my allow me to transfer his Maxcare over to me for the remaining time. Cost me $50 but sure was worth it with a rear balance shaft seal and rear main seal leaks! Not something that I would want to do or have to pay for! It's a nice selling feature for sure,"Hey, buy this to cover your butt since these things are pricey and if you don't use it, we'll give you a refund".

Well considering that was over 7 years ago & the fellow fella selling it most likely violated some law in my deal ( another story) I would not trust a word he said. So what you are saying if you didn’t use it at all and the term expired that I get my money back? I can believe if you don’t have the policy for the full term you could get a portion back but that’s all . why on gods green earth would someone not buy the policy.
Sounds to good to be true, so probably is

just got off phone with maxcare. Guess what no refund whatsoever and why would you .

Many years ago you could buy a warranty plan that if its not used you could get a full refund, but I recall it also cost more, only reason I knew of such plans is my FIL had one on one of his vehicles..

If I remember correctly a refund was based on contract period (time), miles driven and warranty costs if used. If no warranty was used, you could get a full refund as long as it was requested within a short period of time after the warranty expired (time or mileage met). I had one where I traded the truck in around two years after purchased and got a full refund since there were no claims. The other was a similar event but the 2019 1500 Limited had a year and a half in and out of the shop for the 12-inch radio and navigation issues. Finally, it got fixed, but I just had to go back to a Cummins from a 2019 5.7 Hemi 1500 Limited. One of many life's BIG mistakes I have made, second time buying a 5.7 vs. Cummins - Slow learner I suppose. o_O:rolleyes: Wife didn't like the Hemi revving up going up hills when pulling the travel trailer. ("Is it going to blow up??!!" she exclaimed...often, just like the first one, a 2500 5.7 in 2005) and the Jello Air-Ride suspension on the 1500 Limited where her knuckles were whiter than mine...and she was the passenger, and a short-short bed 5' 7" (yuck). Anyway, I got about 50% refund on the Lifetime MaxCare. Took that refund and applied to an 8-year/100,000 mile MaxCare for my 2020 2500 Laramie Cummins. This truck is a keeper. Never had an issue with MaxCare in the past 20+ years.
