Well, that's certainly not the way I read some of these posts. It looks to me like a small minority of guys are trying very hard to do just that. One of the reasons Don Ramer stopped posting on the TDR was because of the nasty attacks. Don & Clint are first-class guys and would rather build first-class transmissions than engage in a skunk-fest. They've engineered a truly GREAT transmission-- oh they'll get their Cummins putting out high h. p. -- you can bet on that. And that ATS trans will take it and put it to the ground.

It is a shame the TDR has lost the input of men of the caliber of Don & Clint, but who can blame them for pulling out? I'd stop posting too, if I had to fight the jealousy, the sniping and the venemous remarks which have poisoned this forum from time to time.

rrausch,

I didn't say anything about ATS and/or their transmission..... I also made mention of the fact nobody was trying to run them down, my post was directed to Mark. All I stated was the facts. Don's truck put down 477 HP which is not bad. But it did not dyno any higher! I am sure all the guys at ATS are great people and nobody is slamming them, contrary to what you think. But I don't believe dynoing one number and then somebody saying that the number is higher is correct.

The field was the same for all players. Some of them did what they thought they would, some did better, and others didn't make what they had hoped. Nothing wrong with that, but as I said before the numbers are what they are.

Doug,

The dyno is great but I feel there was some operator error. Don is a transmission guy not a dyno king. We talked and there were some things he would've done different.

Their goal this time was #2 only so they took the drugs off the truck. They'll take it to the strip and the dyno and figure out where they went wrong and fix it. Beyond that, next time there will be nitrous and/or propane and a #2 run to boot.

Don't dismiss the volume of performance knowledge because of a bad dyno run. 477 is not appreciably better than my truck before I tore it down. To spite the numbers they have a VERY strong truck.

Till then, don't count them out.

Later,

Mark

Mark,

I think guys have the wrong impression here. Nobody is counting anybody out. Everyone knows there are new "king of the Hills" each day. Every dog has its day is another saying that fits..... I just think that we should let stand what was done at MM and not try and distort it. Lots of guys find out when they dyno they aren't exactly where they thought they were.

This is not meant flame ATS, you, or any other members, just my $. 02 worth.

Doug

Hi Doug, how are you bro? Can't wait to see that truck of yours run! Hope I don't have to see too much of the back end of that thing! I guess if it's single elimination I'll only see it once. ;)

No where do I remember ATS boasting about how they had 700 horsepower and that they where going to kick everyone’s but at mm. In fact, this all came about from some of their supporters trying to justify their purchase of an ATS converter.

I believe that those supporters have not done justice for ATS. ATS is now faced with the dilemma of trying to explain why they aren’t gods gift to horsepower and transmissions.

Well,,,,,

They don’t know me and I don’t know them, but I did take my truck to their shop for a minor service, and,,,

They were friendly, helpful, did a good job and saved me money!

O! Did I mention they saved me money?

No one really expects them to be top dog since they are new, and I did say in an earlier post that they would have to prove themselves, which they will sooner or later, good or bad.

The part I don’t get is the fact that ATS is being perceived as a company boasting about their accomplishments, but they have not posted on this board in a few weeks.

How about you supporters letting ATS speak for themselves and you non supporters wait for the appropriate time to bash them " when they actually say something".

BTW... DTT... Outstanding job, taking all the top spots. Now more than ever I'm ready for a DTT converter

.

O! and let me congradulate BD & CUMINNTSTRKN for a fine job on the sleds! Thats something that could not have been said a few years(months) :p ago!

OK, I'm the guy who put out there in the TDR forums that Don Ramer thought his truck was putting out 700 H. P. To my knowledge I am the FIRST person who posted this. I am the responsible party. So blame me if the info is screwed up! This came about from a conversation I had with Don when I was in Wheat Ridge having an ATS TripleLok Trans installed in my 1995 12V. I was standing in their shop and looking at 2 Mustang Dnyo reports from March Dyno Days, which were posted on their wall.

One was for Don's Dodge, and one was for Clint's Powerstroke. (Clint also has a Dodge Cummins) I don't remember what the Ford h. p. was, but according to the Dyno Print-out, Don's Dodge put out 597. 2 H. P. in March of this year on a Mustang Dyno. In Lockup. On #2. So I was standin' there contemplating how 597. 2 H. P. must feel to the seat of yer pants, and Don said, "That was before I installed compound turbo's. I bet I'm makin' 700 H. P. now

So I posted it. So blame me and my big mouth.

For the record:

I think Don WILL make some bigger numbers.

We all have had "bad truck" days.

DTT and BD and GOEREND are excellent transmissions and I have never posted anything different.

You all know my opinion, and that is that ATS is just a little

bit better. Now that is just my opinion. I may be full of it, but then again I don't think I am.

OK, who got a hold of Bob's passwords and posted this?;)

Remember guys, ATS is trying the ALL inhouse thing that DD has been doing for a while, how long has ATS been around? Give them some time, and get me a cam!!!:D ;)

Andrew

Not making excuses for anyone, but a blown intercooler is very common with twin turbos, and sucks the life right of the truck.

My new one should be here tomorrow. $$$$$$

Where does it end?:{

Ummmm... ... ... . Andrew, when has DD ever made their own transmission parts? They install upgrades and torture test the dookie out of trannies, but DTT does the transmission parts/pieces for them. DD is a performance developer and upgrade shop. ATS is a transmission company that is developing HP products.

Oh Howard, give me a break:D. yeah yeah yeah, so DD dosen't make the transmission, but they make EVERYTHING else, and ATS just started doing it, so does that mean that ATS is a... . ah,..... a more complete company?

Andrew

After I was at Wheat Ridge, getting my Trans rebuilt I saw stuff that indicated ATS has been around with Don & Clint at the helm for at least 11 years.

I also saw stuff indicating they've been building racing Torque Converters for 8 years, and building various diesel torque converters for 8 years also.

Don Ramer said the triple-lok Torque Converter name was invented last year, and brought to the general market with patent pending. The triple-lok has been on the market under that name since last year.

Why does it always wind up a debate about transmissions?

This post is about HP numbers at MM02. Test elsewhere, be prepared for the event. Run strong, or not.

Congratulations to all that won their events, and I'm sure those that didn't win will be back for more, at the next event.

The fact that everyone was having fun together, regardless of what brand of whatever they run, is what made the event great. Thanks Joe for all of your work to pull this off.

It seems alot of ******* is being thrown by people that weren't even there. This is stirring the pot. Get over it. The numbers don't lie. The results don't either.

CUMINNTSTRKN, great to finally meet you and Christian, too. Both of your trucks did great at all of the events.
