Competition who was at may madness sled pull

mm was the perfect venue for ats to put there hp where there mouth is. i could care less what they dyno'd, but it would have been nice if they would have competed in the sled pull or the drag race. not everyone can win everything, i got my but kicked by dd twice in one weekend, but i had so much fun doing it, i could care less. don't get me wrong i'm now scurring for more hp to be ready for muncie.

Don't blame the dyno. . Lawrence let them run it themselfs as he didn't want ANYONE saying he didn't do this or that when he ran it... he even made sure they were given the instruction they needed to run his dyno, all DD's employees backed away when the the out of town high HP trucks ran so no conflict could be suggested... way cool on his part IMHO

proud to be from the Great NW

Jim Fuller puts up and can can walk the walk.

I remember 2/00 when Jim drove over from Helena with his big slow cooker of hot wings

Jim. you have come a long way in a very short period of time

You could not find a more up front kind of guy :D

Best of luck in the future :)

Jim,you may have gottten beat by DD,but your truck really rocks. You did excellent,IMO. BD should be proud of how well you did,I am impressed with the levels of power these 700hp+ trucks are making, and the fact that the drivetrain is holding up at all. Mark, about the ATS truck, the dyno was the same, none of the trucs were properly loaded,as you know the dynojet only simulates a 5K load, the thing is the load was the same for all the trucks, and Jim's truck had an auto, and twins too. The playing field was level here.

"was not loaded properly"

The Dynojet is an inertia dyno and this has been hashed repeatedly. There is absolutely no reason nor justification to slur Lawrence's ability to run his dyno, nor the way he ran it at May Madness. He has made over 1/2 million dyno runs, many for official NASCAR purposes. Those guys are as critical and careful as anyone about their rides.

NO truck was loaded at May Madness. All were run in roll-on, acceleration mode. Mr. Ramer ran his own truck on the dyno. Lawrence showed him the start button, etc. and ensured it was a valid run. There was no question that the dyno was run correctly by anyone who was in attendance. It is so easy to criticize and make allegations that a truck was not properly dyno tested when you weren't even there. Everyone dyno'ed at the same time on the same dyno in the same manner, period.

My Ram was tested the same way, no load, and even the HX55LP spooled up just fine. Everyone got the same kind of run.

I was told by several folks that they saw a bottle valve being turned on the run in question. I don't know whether propane or nitrous was used and I don't care. 477 hp is a good number, and Mr. Ramer told me he attended MM02 in part to see how his truck did on the same dyno with others. He had questions about the validity of runs made on a new dyno in Colorado. Sure, it is natural to want to believe a good number like 597 hp. I respect a company that has the nerve and interest in the truth enough to come to May Madness and take the risk of making a smaller number. They are relatively new to the high hp Ram world but will learn quickly how to be competitive with their numbers, I think. I personally watched the majority of runs and I am convinced that the runs were valid and provide a good yardstick of the various Rams hp numbers at the time they were made.

Let's try again in 6-12 months and see where the chips fall then.

I didn't say they dyno'd well. I'm sure they learned a lot. That is a 500+hp truck. Go take a test ride and bring along a Gtech with you so you can quantify that kick in the pants.

Don't run em down because things didn't go well for them. they will back up, regroup and work the wrinkles out. I can tell you they were disappointed too. There's an event in Denver 27-28 July. I'll bet they have a little more time to prep and do a LOT better.

Their trannies are a work of art. They just have to get the engine in front of it tweaked a bit.

I plan to get to Muncie. I really want 600hp on #2. Let's just hope that the diesel gods are pleased by my recent struggles;)

Don,

Got any idea if that 477 was with drugs? Also who was running the trucks(all of them) on the dyno? I am not calling foul at all, just wondering. :)

Andrew

They took the drugs off the truck before it left Denver.

I don't think anyone is running them down... they just didn't have their s--t together this day this time, when you would figure they wanted to put their best foot foward after the recent past threads... helll anyone working towards high HP #'s knows there are good days as well as bad ones. . just look in Lawrence's display case and see the $2k worth of carnage he blew up two days before on his dyno...

Mark,

They had a 477 HP truck! The numbers showed this..... A Gtech is not a dyno and neither is seat-o-the-pants meter. Nobody here is trying to run down ATS, but don't try and inflate their numbers. They ran what they ran.

Doug

500,000 dyno runs... .

50 per day for a year = 18,250 runs... . nearly 27 years of dyno runs... with no days off.

100 per day for a year = 36,500 runs... . nearly 13 years of dyno runs... . with no days off.

Mark, the ATS truck got beat by over 300hp. That is a TROUNCING by DD. Had they run on the track it is obvious they would have got beat badly there as well. I don't care if they turned the propane off or frigged around with the turbo's, whatever. This get together at DD was NOT a darn test and tune to experiment and dyno with different configurations - it was to see who was top dog! At least until next time, we now know who that is out of the group that was there.

All the vendors that post here have at one time or another talked trash about what they could do and what the others could not. I for one will continue to do business with those of that group that stuff the excuses and get the job done on raceday(coughcoughDTT ahemcoughDD). Anyone who goes around saying they have 700 hp and actually put down only 2/3 that is not in that class, IMHO.

Flame away, this is my first post in months

I'm just guessing on the number of dyno runs, who cares anyway if it is 300,000 or 500,000. Remember though, it takes only a few seconds. Many times I have gone there and we put Sickly to 30-50 runs in an hour or two, testing stuff. He often makes 3-5 passes on each configuration, in a minute or two. During May Madness, DD averaged something like 4-5 minutes per truck, and each truck got 1-3 runs on it.

A couple years ago Lawrence had a Ram for testing. He put 50,000 miles on it total. 36,000 miles were on the dyno.

I guess I should have included the fact that I thought that 500,000 runs was a crapload..... I'm not doubting the # of runs that have been made... I'm just in awe.

Briar we are coming to Muncie, but for fun not business. We droped the sponsorship and gave it to a customer (where it should be IMO) but we still plan on attending. I am sorry if I jumped all over you, I just took exception to you saying that we droped the sponsorship because Eric runs someone elses stuff because that isn't true.

Arcticat i couldn't agree with you more. There are those who put up and those who say they can put up. My truck did terrible at 592hp but i'm not gonna make excuses, just bring more next time. Besides it looks like I might need more cause Gene(Sled Puller) is starting to get me worried. Seems like by the time I get to Muncie he will have more full pulls than I will have pulls. :( I can tell you this there will be no porch sittin by me I will race/pull/whatever and still have 2700 miles each way.

I have you worried?

Fuller has me worried!

Mine is just a grocery getter commpared to these drug sniffers!

Exprience can't beat 100MPH down the track. :(

Stefan, what happened to the 800HP you got a few weeks ago? Not a flame, just curious how you lost over 200 HP in a few weeks. 600 is still pretty big #"s.

LSMITH,

I didn't actually make 800hp it was 871hp. :D I just left the alcohol burning machine at home, dad was playing in Vegas and I was suppost to be playing in Mission. :( Good thing I didn't waste my time going out because it rained here anyway. :)
