2 Trucks in Montgomery, AL...

1480 series FRONT Drive shaft

First of all - BIG thanks to those folks that helped me slap it on my truck at the Muncie fairgrounds on Saturday.

First impressions - the pipes were nicely bent and looked really nice.

Install - so smooth it was scary. The pre-welded hangers lined up perfectly - I was even able to re-use the OEM muffler hanger... which from what I've been told is unheard of on the 12-valve trucks.

I liked mine so much that I helped Jengle put a stainless dual exhuast kit on his truck. His took a lot longer to install... had to hack off about 3" from one of the straight sections of pipe to make it all fit... then had to fiddle around with the tailpipes to get them all lined up, etc.

The hardest part is getting the old system off - from there it's a walk in the park.

Matt, Huge Thanks for that assistance. You were right, it did get louder as I got more miles on it. I think it picked up 2mpg too, but won't be able to tell until the new wears off. Foot just goes right to the floor on every bridge. I also got a comment Sun. night from a trucker on the CB, said the turbo was whistling good. He said he heard it through his cracked window. I wasn't even hard on it at the time. Cool.

Oh yeah - I forgot to mention how the system sounds.

I really like how it sounds - I get a TON of turbo whistle out of mine... that's never a bad thing. It has been so long since I've driven a stock truck... I never realized how quiet they really are. :-laf

No problem, man. Glad I could help you out. I had to complain about something... may as well have been your exhaust install. lol

Matt

MBRP Exh.

Matt, were you the guys with the blue truck installing at the fair grounds? that realy cracked me up, then to see Johnny installing his in lee's parking lot was the topper.

Johnny, glad you like it, as soon as i get my new batch of shirts i'll send ya one. thanks again.

Scott @ Renegade Diesel Performance.

Yeah, that was my truck in the fairgrounds parking lot... I just HAD to make it louder than OEM. I couldn't find anyone with a piece of 3" to straight-pipe it... . so I bought a 4" system turbo to tailpipe.

Installing Jengle's dual kit @ Lee's Inn was interesting to say the least. Thankfully, we had plenty of folks with tools that weren't afraid to lend them out and help out.

Suuuuure it does matt

That system is sweet no two ways about it (Well maybee a split dual) I was going to buy a split system but of course I needed to go and put money twards something stupid like a fuel system so I could get home :p . I will tell ya it sounds sweet and after driving that good ol undervalver I know why that silly cheeze smugglin' grin was all over you LOL!

Matt, you were right, this thing did get a little louder with the miles on it. And NETDP guys, you can hear it this Friday at TQTs for coffee night. Thanks again, MTY.

That old undervalved truck should have a lot more 'go' next year... then you'll definitely have a silly cheese smugglin' grin when you drive it.

Matt

Glad you guys are happy with the exhausts! Working under trucks till 4:30AM at the Lee's Inn parking lot is what Thuder in Muncie is all about!

Thanks to Mark of Red Hot Welding and Mark's friend for the loan of tools that got the exhaust cut out, and later got the three inches cut off. How many guys do you know that travel with a sawsall or a portable band saw?

MTE

I can't thank Mark enough for his help throughout the weekend... that engine-driven generator/welder is freakin' awesome and he wasn't afraid to fire it off at any hour of the day/night/morning.

I could NOT have done any of the work I did this weekend without his and many other people's help.

MTY

Yeah, what Holeshot said. That bandsaw is freaking awesome. Thanks for the help, and the others that gave us the tools to pull off that midnight install. I mean, where else but Muncie could you find a sawsall at 1:30am, plus a generator to run it?

4"

Hey Matt,

I put on a 4"stainless from DPP a while back. GREAT system and really nice people to purchase from. I called with one system in mind and ended up with another. Several suggestions were furnished and NO pressure at all. All suggestions were right on target and the system went on perfect. I only made one mistake. I didn't get a stainless tip. I rectified that and it came UPS today and was on three minutes later. Now I am about ready for my trip.

Mass to Alaska 2004 starts a week from tomorrow on the 19th.

Will have my laptop with us so I will be able to keep up with this site.

Regards, John

Hi John! I haven't heard from you in ages!

Everyone seems to agree that the DPP/MBRP system is sweet - I haven't heard anyone say anything bad yet.

I didn't get one of them there polished tips for my system... no rush. I want to work on the "go" some more before I add more "show". :D

Best wishes for a wonderful trip, John! That's one heck of a journey... If you'd like... look me up if you get close to Madison.

Take care,

Matt

Address

Hey Matt,

Send me a PM with your phone number and address. We will be going thru your neck of the woods and if we can connect up it would be nice to do so. We do not have a set schedule so it may well work out.

Best regards, John

John,

It was great to see you again last night... and meet your wife Vicky. We had a really nice visit and wish you the best of luck on the rest of the journey... :)

I sure hope you guys made it through all the severe weather last night. We had rotating wall clouds right over my apartment that later materialized into tornados just east of us over by where I work...

Take care,

Matt
