On a lighter note; It looks like the bed shrank 3".



From where I sit, it looks like DC has been listening to the public and watching Ford and GM's success with the crew cab configuration. Now the wait is on for a true P/U bed. Personally, I like it.

The Quad Cab will continue alongside the Mega Cab. Dodge has to maintain some type of rear-seat cab with 8-foot-bed trucks, right?



As far as the doors, the rear door itself is fione. The problem is the front door. Dodge used the smaller front door of the Quad instead of the larger front door of the Regular cab. Using the larger front door would have given a more balanced appearance and reduced that humongous C-pillar. I don't even want to think about the over-the-right-shoulder blind spot in that thing. I give Ford credit there, in that the Super Duty uses the same front door for every cab, and their Crew Cab doors are much more visually proportional because of it.

Some people were complaining that the Quad Cab was too small; Dodge answers this complaint with the MegaCab, the largest crew cab ever, and now, some people are complaining that it's too big. Give me a break. Go buy a Ford if you think their crew cab is just right. The MegaCab will be a huge hit and I bet they'll sell all 70,000 of them faster than they can build them. And no, the rear doors are not the same doors as the Quad cab model. The cab is just that much larger. It's 12" longer than the Ford with only a 4" longer wheelbase. I have read that the Quad cab will continue to be produced. As for a longbed version, I hope so, but with the all-new Ram debuting in a couple years, I doubt they will go through the expense of building another frame for now. Besides, most crewcabs are shortbeds. Personally, I think it looks alright. I like the grille better, but not sure about the headlights. At some angles, they look good, at others they don't. Put some nice tires on it and a bug shield and it'll look good. I'm not too sure about the interior, either. I will just have to see them up close and personal first. I wasn't too fond of the current Ram when I first saw it and now I think they're the best looking trucks on the road.

Yeah, I had those pics early this AM on jeepsunlimited.com, way before you guys or DTR had them. I tried to post them this morning, but the JU server was craping out as usual.



And I'm pretty sure the current short bed is 6'3", but correct me if I'm wrong.

It appears to me that the extra large C piller is what makes it the Mega cab. The rear seats upright allows for easy viewing for sight seeing while the extra room behind the window allows for a 37 degree recline (an industry first) and gives a great place to put a pillow for those loooong trips.

I read that the rear has 3 inches MORE leg room than the front seats. It would be cool if the rear seat would fold down into a flat bed area.



Now Dodge has the biggest extended cab AND the biggest crew cab. Both with 4 REAL doors.

Now there will be no confusing the biggest extended cab available in the industry for a crew cab just because it has 4 REAL doors! - Still my prefered size cab.

I can't wait to go on the other brands forums and complain that they don't offer an extended cab with 4 REAL doors. HeHeHeHe



Oh Oh -- What are we gunna do with all the ex F & C owners flooding over to our beloved forums just because of the type people that gotta have the biggest and baddest cabs that's available??

Think about it How many times have you heard - I'd buy a Dodge if they offered a crew cab with 4 REAL doors?

Too bad they went with the fugly look. Now the front end looks like a minivan. The current generation Dakota's are not appealing. Why would it look any better on a fullsize? Why no 8' bed or dually? This appears to be a step forward and backward. If they offered the above in a 4500 this would've been a Grand Slam.

Dodge sure knows how to ruin a good thing. It seems ever since Daimler took over everything has gone out to :-{}



First they get rid of using a mechanical injection pump and now this tonka toy morphed quad cab long bed. Who are they fooling? I sure like how they used a current production frame for cost purposes instead of making a longer frame to have a long bed option. I hope nobody buys this truck since the cab is larger than the bed, whats the point?

That C piller looks like hell. What an uggggggly design.

The front end of the 3rd gens accually looks good but they once again over plastic toy'd it and made it look like a Dakota/Durango. Its sure gonna look funny with yellow headlights in a few years :-laf Maybe next they will make the a piller like the durango so you hit your head with it when you get in. Please Dodge don't stop now. You already took our throttle cables away so when there is a throttle sensor malfuction we can all get side swipped in an intersection on a left hand turn... . Oo. :-laf

I think the front is decent looking, not nearly as bad as the Dakota. And PLEASE NOTE the bed IS THE SAME SIZE as the current SWB bed so quit complaining about that, sheesh. The rear doors ARE MUCH LARGER than the current Quad Cab doors.





And why should I care about the size of the front door which is already very large? I would need one very wide buttocks to need more room than that to get in. :-laf



When Crew Cab SWB trucks outsell Crew Cab LWB trucks by a HUGE margin, which model do you think Dodge should come out with???

The black truck in Chicago was a Hemi, the red a Cummins. However, the interior pic you mention is a DC official picture done in a studio.

Look at the large picture of the center dash on the home page of the TDR. Look between the seat heater buttons. Looks like there will be a power sliding rear window option since it's so far away from the driver.
