New member, but long time viewer. I am getting ready to place my truck order and can not decide between mega or quad cab. I have my eye on the future trade in value (min 5yrs) just wondering everyone thoughts? Also, I am leaning towards black but have read the black paint is not as durable as others, namely patriot blue or silver.

Thanks for the help

I have a black truck and I am a clean freak on everything else except the truck. It is the worst for seeing scratches and swirl marks, wish I could have got another paint.

Black is the absence of color.

White hides everything, Silver seems very hard for collision techs to match if a panel needs color. Objectively look at most clean silver cars and trucks and you will find a mis matched panel.

Mega or quad is a personal use decision. Or $ per mile.

I went from a 2003 1500 QC to a 2006 3500 Megacab. Huge difference. I thought it was just one of those "I'm bigger than you" gimmicks, until I sat in one. Remember the Quad is really just an extended cab with regular doors. The Mega has way more room for "stuff" when travelling and if you haul passengers around in the back much they will thank you. My old 03 was Atlantic Blue and I got a lot of compliments. The Patriot Blue is TOO dark for me. My current Inferno Red is a stunner if you keep it reasonably clean.

The 8 foot bed is a big plus, i know people are starting to stretch their megas but it turns into a really long truck. I went from a QC shortbed 1/2 ton to the current truck and at the moment really like the long bed. The next truck will be a QC long bed. i drove a crew cab long bed Dmax truck for a while and it was just too long, big pain in the ***. Thats the nice thing about the QC the best of both worlds.

It really depends on how you use the truck. If you haul people, and you want them to be comfortable, the Mega is your answer. If you just haul "stuff" it really doesn't matter. My Quad works perfect for my dogs, and other misc. items. I would have loved to get a Mega though.

I own an camper and had to have a long bed truck, but could not live with a reg cab. In fact, if I didn't own the camper, I would not own the truck. Quad cab was my only option. The room in the QC is great, and all my passengers say it's comfortable. I haul mostly adult family members and friends, but not that often. Most recently we had my sister in law in the back seat for a 3. 5 hour trip, she said it was very comfy. Hope this helps.

I never ride in the back anyway and i personally like the shorter wheel base of the QC.

Color, I like Patriot blue and Silver :D

Mega is really nice for long trips. Fold down the large side for the black lab and beagle. The small side is for my daughter. Enough room for everybody to stretch out with room for extra stuff (cooler, food, diaper bag). Bought a shortbed camper to fit the truck.

As far as the mega-cab vs. the quad-cab you will have to ask yourself what is more important to you a bigger bed or bigger cab?? I have two lil ones and two labs so the mega-cab is a better fit for me. The one thing I like about the mega-cab is that it is built on a long-bed frame which is a bit better for weight distribution when pulling a bumper-pull type trailer. I am currently pulling a 34 foot tripple axle camping trailer which I think the mega-cab handles the trailer better than the quad-cab I use to have. I can tell you the quad-cab is much easier to park and also has a higher load capacity in the bed. If I didnt have the kids I would roll with a long-bed quad-cab. I installed a tool box in my truck which killed my bed space. Good luck on your decision.

Mega is a very well thought out out platform. Only way to go if you don't need the long bed (hauling, camper). Back doors open 90 deg so its easy to load in boxes and such with back seat down. Tons of room back there. My back seat is down 99% of the time and I use the space regularly. Quick and easy to lift and latch the back seats for passengers, lots of leg room, nice storage bins behind the seats. I have had both, the long bed frame rides and tows better than the short bed frame. This is a BIG truck, not for everybody. White is the only color for trucks IMHO. Not flashy, just like me, Doesn't show dust, water marks. Cool in summer.

Love my Mega Cab. Pull 30 ft 5th wheel camper with slide hitch. Have a cheap utility trailer to load crap in, fire wood, plywood, dirt, gravel. Utility trailer is a 5 x 10 with 2 foor removalable sides with a weigth capacity of 5000 lb. The way I see it why load stuff in the bed of my $50,000 truck and mess it up. The truck will tow alot and a $2500 trailer is cheap compaired to a messed up bed. The red and silver or the alantic blue and silver both are sharp. My is the blue and silver.

I agree that kids=mega... but that's why my wife bought her suv. I can fit my son's carseat in the back of my QC fine. My wife is due in July... I am sure boy #2 will fit as well. I hate trying to park a LWB Truck.

I have had around 6 different color! But i keep going back to white,I thank it is the best paint that Dodge has. I thank sliver pant that dodge has stinks. It is very easy to scratch it is a very thin paint. Dodge had a paint that was on the old power wagon. It was called burnt orange. It could get scratch but wash it with hot water almost all the socrates would come out. I like the white it seems to be a thicker paint. It doed not scratch very easy allso lots cooler in the hot sun,I have a Q C that has storage under seat. It is of good steal. Fold up the back seat then you can put gal cans in the back also lots of grocies. Like mine a lot... ... ... . BEN

I like the QC long box. I have tried them all I think RC LB, QC SB, QC LB, MC SB, and I just prefer the bed spce to the interior space. With the load floor expanded in the QC it is easy to lift things into the truck. With the seats folded in the Mega, it is a long ways up to get to the flat. Admittedly, the cabin space in the Mega is expansive but I want a truck for the bed space. I have also had a CC LB Chevy which was just too dang long and drove my friends CC SB Ford last night, I don't even need the space in back the CC trucks have much less the Mega. The QC seats three tall people pretty easily. I have had two white trucks and three mineral grey. Black is too much hassle, I like the blue and red too. The grey looks sharp clean without the hassle of black.

It seems when I test drive both qc and mega, the mega just seems like it is geared differently for the better. although I know its not.

Mega Cab is a no brainer!!!!!! There was only a difference of $2000. 00 between the Mega Cab and QC. Having twin 10 year old boys and possibly one on the way, had to go with the MC... ... ..... I luv this truck.
