Message Center - How does the @$#! plug come off???

Trying to get the dash trim off so I can start installing the gauges, but I can't get the round plug off the back of the message center. It doesn't look like there is a screw in the middle but I can't tell, and nothing has worked to get it loose so far. The FSM is no help at all... .



How does this stupid thing come off????

Never mind... took a beer break before heading out for a better look. Couldn't see the two little locking tabs on the center pin.

While your in there, I would make the suggestion to replace all the instrument bulbs. When we did my son's truck we checked and didn't realize how many were out!

Well, he was hanging around here most of the day so you should have been safe. Got most of it done, just need to install the trans temp sending unit and hook it up.

... yeay, me and ole' Murph' have gone a few rounds... and my knuckles have the scars to prove it. Little punk LOVES to hang around electrical connectors, especially the ones near the sharp edges of the dash...

I did my oil changes today, the minivan, corvette,charger,ctd,D -350 gasser and finally the 6-71, 5 gallons of 15-40 in 30 degree weather standing on the bumper, glug..... glug... . glug, broke out the ether fired it off to see all the clean leaks... black as coal, forgot the luberfiner! I know the s. o. b was hangin out w/me

30* weather here, too... at least for the low this morning. It's supposed to be around 70* by Wednesday.
