24,000 miles and they're pretty well done. I don't spin the tires and have never done a burn out either, in other words they've been babied and rotated often and they're shot. I'm going to put on Goodrich 285's later this fall. I've heard some real good mileage claims with the Michelins so I'm wondering why mine wore so fast.

Tom, I have no idea why your tires wore so fast. Which model of Michelin is it? I have the OEM 265's on mine with 58,000 and they still have about 10k left on the tread.

Tom ,I am also sorry to here that:(

I have 28,000 and they are like new. (OEM265's)

Do you do alot of off-road or gravel roads?

Do you have many sharp bends on the roads you drive.

anyway that sucks!

good luck in your next set (what ever they are)

later

That has got to be the record for least amount of miles on Michelins. I guess buying tires for the ram would be kinda fun, If they weren't so expensive.

quick question

TC what pressure are you running?

do you haul heavy loads?

are you sure that noone switched wheels with you?

Low pressure and stock shocks will kill your tires. My Michelins have almost 60K on them and will probably last another 10 by the looks of them.

25K miles and I'm about 1/2 way worn on the tread with my factory original Michelin LT265/16 LTX A/S tires.

I suspect you have either an alignment problem, or "something" in your driving style is causing extreme premature wear. If the Michelins aren't lasting, I KNOW the Goodyears aren't going to last any longer.

My two cent's might only be worth one!

 This makes me wonder about my 98. 5 - I've had it just under two weeks. It has really nice Firestones and seem to ride and handle excellently. The truck only has 35k. Did these beasts come with Firestones?

I got 60,000 miles out of my Michelin LTX M&S , stock size 235... I ended up putting the same tire on it, more value for the $$$. Can't imagine why you only got 24,000 out of yours... . sorry to hear that.

I got about 30,000 miles on the Michelins that came on my truck - I was VERY disappointed at such poor mileage from what I expected to be a superior wearing tire! I have since been running on Uniroyals, they do better than the Michelins, but still only seem good for 40,000 miles or so. This is all on good roads and hiways, altho I do pull a 24 ft 5th wheel a fair number of miles. The front end alignment has been carefully checked, and is excellent - the tires wear VERY evenly, but they just, WEAR OUT too soon!

I have heard the urban legends that people will take a vehicle for a test drive and swap parts out on them.

I have marveled over how well my stockers have held up.

I now have 42,000 miles and they look fine. I was hoping to get new tires for winter but they dont need swaping.

I do know that when I picked the truck up new, it only had about 30-35 PSI in the tires. I raised them all to around 45PSI.

Tires.

My michelins have 27 k. on them and are maybe half worn out, I can't imagine why they wore out that fast.

Michelins

I only have about 10k on my Michelin 265s, but I haul a very heavy camper. I gross over 10,000 lbs and my tires are like new.

I am sorry to hear about your low milege, but if I were you I would not go for Goodyear. My jeep came from the factory with them and I was very unhappy with them. Poor quality ride and not real good wear, made me replace them with Michelins on the Jeep. Now the Jeep rides better and handles better too. Can't tell about the milege because I only got 3,000 on them.

I have 10,000 on my OEM Mich. 265's and the front two look great but the back ones are 1/2 shot!

PS: I do not do burnouts!!

I had a set of Coopers on my last truck and they lasted 40,000. never had to ballance them eather. just a rotation ever 10K.

I've heard that the OEM tires may not meet the same specs as those you would get from a tire store.

I have 20k miles on my 2001, and the stock Michelins will probably need to be replaced at 30k miles. However. The truck weighs 7600# (recent weight), it's a 4x4, and I've towed a smallish stock trailer and driven gravel/dirt roads with it a lot, both 2wd and 4wd. So maybe 30k is all that can be expected. Have rotated the tires every 5k miles; running 60# of pressure.

It would be interesting to see how many with less mileage have LSD, and how many run open differentials. I'm open and have 63,000 and counting, but thinking maybe new tires would be nice before it snows here. Of course, that will probably be in 2002.

Not back then- Goodyear and Michelin only. Not sure about now.

BTW, mine came with Goodyears. I had a tread separation on the right rear at about 56k miles- still some tread left.

I replaced them with Michelin LTX M/S. I've got about 16k on these with little visible wear.

WARNING!!!! When shopping for tires, be sure to get load range "D" or "E". These same sizes and brands often come in a "P-metric" version which will NOT carry the weight- especially on the front end.

A friend of mine in Wyoming had his 2000 purchased by Dodge thru arbitration because they could not align the POS. It was eating tires at an amazing rate. He ended up with an ETH/DEE and last I heard he was happy

It sounds like I could be the exception here? My first set of Michelins (from Costco) went 103,000 mi. The set that is on the truck now has about 108,000 mi. Maybe due to being a first gen??
