Microsoft Media Player crashing

My media player is crashing when trying to play video or audio. I have not installed any new software other than Microsoft updates and firewall updates.



I tried to fix the problem by reinstalling the media player software, but no fix.



Could the firewall cause the crash?



Could my Internet Explorer software be corrupted?



Everything else works fine...
