Thanks, TDR Staff

Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

I think one of our local "by-laws" is that a member needs to own a truck to vote. Since we don't vote much... were's the rub?... You can still administrate group purchases and member lists and generally slave for the perks of the executive branch of the local chapter. :p

Anyhoo, THANKS A ZILLION for all that you've done Andy! :D

And I know where there's a honey of a 4x2 you might could buy. ;)

Sometimes I wonder when I'm going to get tarred and feathered. :p

Okay members--help Andy find a truck. I thought the 12v would stick. But then I don't have a concrete driveway. :-laf

216--kiss of death. I suspect the VP is/was erratic on its uptake of fuel and causing surges back into the supply line--hence the bouncy needle.

Anybody else want to fight for the grandeur and coveted title of MTTDR VP? :D

We could also use a writer to submit "articles" when we have functions.

Meeting--'bout dang time!. What dates are good and who might be able to host?

And they had a 96 5-speed 4x4 3500 flattie in Manchester last week. Sold before I got there.

FWIW--the Mooretown VFD is having a motocross race in the field next to the pulling track. Saturday 17. They've been building jumps whoops and berms all week.

Over.

piston slapper

i will go for the slapper to be vp.

that is if he wants it and its alright with his family, you know it will take a lot of time away from them with all the appearances and autographs that he will have to tend to

Man, I tell you...

you miss getting on here for a few days and you have 4-5 pages to read to catch up!!! Andy, I'm also very sorry to see you go, I saw a 2500 in Hartsville at the corner of Hwy 25 and Hwy 231, maroon, extended cab, bout all I member so far. I can get a number to the place if you might want it. I also need to give a shout out to Joesup for hooking up the brakes on the horse trailer!!! The only place in town that you go for brakes and leave with brakes and 5 tires. Thanks again Joe!!!! :)

Well unless anyone else wants to host one first I believe the next one will be the 3rd annual greet & eat (& burnout! :-laf) held at the lovely Harris home.

In the past we have held this event on Saturday, this year if its ok with everyone else I would like to wait and hold it on Sunday as the 15th (Sat) is my parents wedding anniversary.

If its going to be to big a deal to do on Sunday then we can push it back to Saturday. Just need to know as the date grows closer.

Man I'm ready for IRP next weekend!! WOOHOO!! 4-day weekend baby! Originally was gonna go back to work on Monday, talked to the boss today and since I drive for a living I figured I'd like to sleep in (and it would be a good idea) after having to drive straight home from Indy Sunday night (4. 5hrs one way). Oo. Oo. Oo.

Hearing no objections the next meeting is at Mark's' house :p

Sunday July 16.

For those that haven't been there--it's just off the main highway out in the bush.

There is usually a technical workshop--three guys spilling beer under the hood, but space is limited so reserve yours today. Non-technical (and some technical BS'ing) beer spilling is out in the yard between the thunderclouds.

I'll start a thread--maybe even get a mailer.

Call TST. Buy something. They sent me a hat--somebody's got to pay for it. :D

Thanks Gina!

Red thing--The one I got from Chris Rudd (615 210 8888 verizon) who still doesn't answer or return calls--

Anyway the RED one is getting 3k springs and an AFC spring here in a minute. Seems that Dr. P*********** simply cranked down the stock springs.

Truck was SUPPOSED to have (and Chris Rudd 210-8888 promised to provide the papers-but won't)

3k GSK

KDP fixed

#10 plate

Banks turbo

16 degrees timing

13" FE

370's

reman nv4500 and DLD241

So far I've found:

stock springs

KDP--appears to be fixed with newer case.

stock plate--Chris DID pay for that.

Stock turbo with Banks housing

21 degrees timing -which led to the headgasket failure.

clutch is grabby--but haven't seen it yet and not in a hurry to.

370's worn out

nv4500 with junk in it causing major hassle.

DLD241 bleeding like a pig--needs bearings.

All I want from Chris Rudd (615 210 8888) is to find out where he got the crappy transmission and transfer case. I understand that he doesn't know diddle about our trucks--I don't need ANY more confirmation of that.

So if you think you or your sweet-voiced wife/girlfriend/daughter can get Chris Rudd 615 210 8888 on the phone, then do a brother a favor and find out where he got the nv4500 and the 241.

Out.

lol, have you tried calling from a different phone? motor is going back in saturday am. mike and i will be at irp on saturday but arent gonna pull due to the fact that they dont have a class for us. we will be pulling at vermillon county fair thurs nite, pinckeyville, il fri nite and tampico, in sat nite. we will be riding around irp in a kubota rtv and a 4 wheeler. see ya'll there

How about directions from Lebanon to the Harris House? and cell #'s in case of getting losted trying to find it, and what time does it start?

If gov springs cost $500, they'd be worth it. Truck (and driver) is MUCHO happier now. For anybody driving a 12v on stock gov springs---do yourself a BIG favor and call TST Monday morning. :D :D :D

Call Chris Rudd if you get a chance. I had a beer and started getting snotty--95% of the time I've been really laid-back about it. But this here Natural Ice brought out a little gnarliness. :p

How to get there and all the particularities should be covered in the thread Imina start, but haven't gotten around to today. Maybe later.

But Mark's place is the first house on Scott road off 231. Just South of the 31E/231 junction north of Bethpage in Sumner Co.

Yeah, I think I've used different phones. Somebody else on TDR started a thread trying to "find" him. Pretty much a Cummins Diesel ignorant weasel as I see it. I'm just looking for the info he should have but the other guy was out some money I believe. When I run across that Atlanta address, I'll be sure and post it. His mom lives just down the road here a few miles, but I'm trying really hard not to bother her. She probably knows what a dirthead she raised. Whoops, there goes that ICE again. :-laf

IRP Diesel Nationals

Hey Mark (and others) - do you guys know of any other Mid-Tenn guys that are going to IRP? Are Meacham and the Lebanon gang going again? I know Meacham said he was going to watch but sometimes plans change...

I've said all along that I won't be going this year but I do have a room reserved at the Amerihost and I think I'm finally ready to break down and dyno this truck of mine. I'm swapping to a Silver Bullet turbo from II this week and I'm hoping that this will fix my EGT problems. We'll see...

Going also gives me a good excuse to get out of going on a 4th of July trip with my buddy Darrin, his wife, and their very spoiled, high-maintenance 2 year old. ;)

I may still back out because I wasn't that impressed with the atmosphere at the Hotel last year but as of right now I'm going. LOL, can you guys tell I'm talking this over in my head right now? :-laf

Anyway, speak up if you plan to go so I can get an idea of how many familiar faces I'll get to see there.

I've been reading this thread from DTR:

http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=93017

I think I'm going to try it. I've been shimming clutch springs and carb slide springs and needles on these bikes and ATV's for years so I don't see why it won't work. I just don't have the extra $$$ to spring for the GSK right now. (Pun intended :-laf )

What do you guys think? There's another thread in the DTR 12V Engine and Trans forum where one fella even shimmed the inner 2 springs with different thicknesses. If it works I'll let you know and I should be able to hook you up with shims if you think you might want to try it. I'm going to try to get to it Monday. We'll see.

Scott

I started the thread for the July meeting Click Here

As for IRP yes I'm going, I talked to Terry Johnson about convoying up earlier this week and he's supposed to let me know. Might be just me & Dilbert the misses might be working. Either way look for my truck minus the stacks, I'm installing a 4" straightpipe/tailpipe this week before the trip.

Altough I'm not staying at the Amerihost this year for a couple of reasons. #1 they lost the advance sign up sheet from last year that I was like the 5th person to sign, #2 they hiked their price up from last year, & #3 they only offered me a smoking room along with this knownledge when I called to reserve my room in Jan. So I'm staying @ the Days Inn behind the Amerihost.

And for the gun nuts amongst us... . I picked up a Winchester Model 94 30-30 @ Bill Goodmans Gun & Knife show today in really good shape for $275! Been trying to find a good deal on once since they got discontinued.

Hey Scott & Stephen check out my Springer now..... still waiting on a different hammer & night sights!

Well me, I prefer my good ole Marlin 30-30 due to the fact of having a Winchester #94 with a scope on it, everytime I fired it, I had to turn that rotten piece of S#$T upside down and shake it because with that top eject the shell casing would fall right back down and jamb after hitting the bottom of the scope, could use a side mounted scope though, nah, so don't use a scope and enjoy it Mark, use a scope and probably be selling yours too, and joining the Marlin gang, as for guns "I Love'em" :D

I use open sights on my 94, scope is on my Knight . 50 cal.

Got to shoot it today, and it shoots straight as an arrow, but it has a magazine feed problem and it moves away from the action (walks out past the barrel) after being fired a few times. Oh well got a good friend who's a smith! ;) :D

IF you get the shims right the first time--then it might be a good deal. I'd hate (especially with a twin ram!) to have to go into the gov assembly 3 or 4 times to get it right. TST's spring kit makes a very short job of it. The AFC spring kit comes with two springs, one for little pumps and one for the almighty. So I have an extry spring here Scott ifn you want it.

Now to go swap clutch hydraulics. Finally figgered out what was going on--when it happened to me. The hydraulics bleed down slowly while pedal is down. Not a big deal once you know what is happening, but it can surprise you in traffic.

More on GSK--starts 5x faster, idles properly, much nicer off the bottom, quicker through the middle and of course better on top--pulls right through 3000, I lifted at 3200. Truck just drives 2x better. I always thought the bogginess was due to the 35" tires. Itwern't

As far as I know the 12v's always swing from 140-190 no matter the t-stat. The 24's don't swing so much--probably because the computer is interpolating. ;)

Looking for help/ideas with hyd clutch.

I have a 4x4 truck that i use to mud and rock climb, its a 79 dodge frame, dana 60 front 14 bolt rear both with 4. 56 gears and lockers, a 69 model 383 (b Block) . 030 over and a sm 435 tranmission with a np 205 transfer case.

the problem i have is the clutch, the clutch arm keeps bending where it goes thru the bell housing, i have renforced it and replaced it with a brand new one and it still bends after about the 3rd time out, am considering changing over to hyd, but need ideas on which parts such master cyl and slave cyl.

the body ( for now is a 84 s-10 cab and bed)

and ideas or suggestions are appreciated

Thanks Eddie

Hey Joe

For what it's worth... I put one from O'Reiley, one from Napa, and two from Cummins in my 96. The ones from Cummins that were the "updated" part number were "better" than the ones from O'Reiley and Napa, but the needle still swayed like a tree in the breeze.
