Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

The idea of having one that long was mine. The ones that he'll want to sell will be comparable to the stock length but will probably have a bend or two in them. I wouldn't expect that many people would like it at first, but I think the whole deal is a lot easier to drive. The added weight and leverage make shifting pretty easy. Also, it's really a lot more comfortable to me than the stocker - I couldn't think of anything that I'd like better. ;)

A few more inches is welcome. I just don't think _I_ want my hand up that high. :p

Dunno about 6" Try truckpro or wait until Mark gets back online. Everybody was out of town this weekend for some diesel thingy. Personally I think 6" is the limit for aesthetics on a pickup truck.

I just got through eating supper myself and ain't been more than 40 miles from home all weekend. And it's 10:30...

Where you at ahire? I'm in Shotgun Co. and I quit eating snuff Saturday morning, now this end on the county is avoiding me. :-laf Oo. ;)

Back from Indy... ... ... :--) Oo.

Hans got a scream'n deal on a clutch

Jay got a nice rear diff cover

... ... . and all I got was a nice SUN BURN AFTER LOADS OF RECORDING!!! #@$%! :-{} :{ :-laf

More details tomorrow time for bed!

TruckPro is down in the Elm Hill Pike/Fesslers Lane area of Nastyville. It's a parts house/service facility for big trucks. They keep a good selection of 4" and 5" stuff. Dunno about the big stuff.

I am thinking of buying these wheels and tires. Guy wants $850 for all 8. The backspacing is off (as evidenced by the pictures. ) from factory specs.

Wheels are Billiet Specialties - Titan 8 (17x9. 5 - 5. 5" backspacing). Tires are BFG AT/KO 315/70/17 (8/32's tread).

Any opinions?

I dunno what the backspacing is on a 2nd gen. They may look better on one of them. If I don't buy them, and anyone else is interested, lemme know.

Isn't truckPro on Foster Ave in that area? Used to be Truckers Lighthouse or something like that? Or is that a different place.

Welcome to the Group AHire!

I vote we move the Friday Night meeting to July 8th or 15th. Get away from the Holiday, and get more involvement. I need some ideas for places to have it so I can make arrangements if need be. There's a rockin' catfish place in my neck of the woods (no beer though, and catfish don't get any better than Hans' family does it... ), there's a BBQ place in White Bluff that's awesome, Couple of Hot Chicken places, etc...

I sure wouldn't give $850 for those if they only had 8/32's tread that's not a whole heckuva lot. Try and run him down some, at least $100 if not more.

I don't know exact backspacing on a 2nd Gen but my '02 alloys (6. 25" backspacing) rub my control arms with my 12. 50 wide tires. They look really good on your truck Andy, I just wouldn't give that much for them think he's asking to much for the tire part of the deal. Find out what he gave for the wheels and negotiate (sp?) from there. ;)

yeah, tires are more than half worn. 16/32's new. Deal is for the wheels though. Billet Specialties are quite expensive, and are infrequently discounted. These are $490 each new. As most BS wheels are, these were ordered custom with 5. 5 bs, and valve stems drilled on the inside of the rim. It's a nice set of wheels, I just don't know that I like them protruding from the wheelwells that much. I called Billet Specialties this morning about having the centers re-mounted in the wheel at 6. 5" backspacing. They said no problem, but would be $200/wheel to do it. For that price, I could almost order a new set. So it's either live with that backspacing, or pass on the deal.

Joe made it!!! I don't think AE has ANYTHING with more than 4. 5" of backspacing. :(

Hey Hans, I forgot to say anything earlier, but the ****lever is rockin'. It's got that SoCal Chopper/ApeHanger feel to it. I don't know that I'd roll with it, cause I like to stay mainstream... but I still smile when I look at the pics and nod my head up and down. For my . 02, I think it's cool.

Andy, good deal on moving the get together. I am in for the 8th. Which ever place you guys decide (but preferably one with beer!). I agree with ya', Hans' family cooks some awesome fish. THE best that I have had.

A-Man, if it were me, I would pass on the rims. I think you can find a better deal. Personally, I would sink the money into an HTB2 turbo. But that's just me, 'cause I'm jonesin' for a new turbo. That darn bomb bug bites hard.

hope everyone made it back from irp safely. i got about 5 miles out of martin, tn started up a little hill felt a REALLY violent shudder and then the silver truck died. we hoped that it was the transfer pump. so parked in the middle of hwy 45 south on a bridge. we pulled 1 of the electric fuel pumps off of the white truck and bypassed the transfer pump on the silver truck. got it primed up, cracked a few injector lines and oh crap, it was the injection pump. so... ... . after a 12:45am call to a wrecker service and my dad (he brought Jamie's '99 to haul the trailer) we got on the road again about 2am. the wrecker had a blowout and i didn't get home til 4:15am. carried the 01 to the dodge dealer today. they said that it would be ready wednesday. somehow i doubt that. thank god for 100k warranty. she's sitting on 93. 2k. that was about all of the excitment on the way home. i'm still tired and have to work tomorrow. later, nick

Andy - the rims look awesome on your truck but like Mark said, 1/4" of tread isn't much. You're right about Billet Specialties being expensive, but they are great wheels - it don't get much better than Weld and Billet Specialties. But if you've ever driven a truck with oversize wheels and tires - you know how big the hassle is. Keeps a dark colored truck lookin' nasty all the time and will also do a good amount of paint chipping if you're not careful. A wider tire will also make your fuel mileage suffer and will be louder on the road. Bottom line is - they look awesome and if you don't mind buying more tires soon and can deal with the cons of oversize tires, go for it. ;)

Thanks for the compliments on the shifter - I kinda stole the idea from the custom big rigs that I've been around and seen.

Oh, and if there's any way that you could have that meeting on the night of the 15th, it would be great. I'll be in Stanford, KY at a pull on the 8th and won't be able to make it if we have it then. I'd still be able to come this Friday if everyone else agreed.

If you guys are craving some fish - just let me know and we'll do it again anytime. I'd be up for doing it on the night of the 15th but you guys may just want to meet somewhere closer to home then.

Probably gonna install that clutch tomorrow night. Oo.

Joesup! My grandaddy always called me that! :D Glad to see Underwood Tire on board. Just saying Hey Joesup with the maindatory sarcasim. I was planning on coming by friday for some tires. Don't know if I'll make it. Maybe... I gotta get that trailer and get to the river before all the campsite are gone... probably gonna be picking scraps by friday lunch time arrival at the campground anyway.

I was talking about Joe (ie Joeseph) Underwood. He's grandaddy always called him Joesep, not pronouncing the h. I was picking at him. Welcoming him to the sarcazism!

Sorry... bad reading on my part

Hey Joe, glad to see you're here. Probably get rid of a few tires in this place too.

What days/hours are you open?

I don't know if any of you guys have been following the IRP threads, but I have video's for sale of the weekend @ IRP. I have video of a very little bit of drag racing, EVERY single truck that pulled Saturday and Sunday, and extra bonus stuff (burnouts & tug 'o war) from the hotels.
