Any Ram guys in SE Florida?

Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Check out my new rig!

Well guys, I've got a new ride. :-laf I'm now the proud owner of a 1981 Isuzu Diesel P'UP! I've got it to knock around in and keep miles off the dually. I need something else to play with anyway.

Being 25 years old, it's a little on the rough side but I'm gonna give the inside a thorough cleaning and wax/buff the outside and fix a few dents. My cousin's just built a paint booth down at his house so I may hit him up for a paint job if I feel the need.

It's showing 197,000 on the odometer but the original owner claims that nearly 90,000 of that was pulled behind a motorhome. So hopefully, it only has a little over 100,000 on the engine. It cranks right up and idles and runs really well. It's a 5-speed. I'm hoping that it will get the 40-45 MPG that other's have reported.

What immediate maintenance you do guys recommend? Obviously, I'll change the oil and filters. Should I do the rear end lube? I imagine being pulled behind a motorhome that much wasn't easy on the rear end.

Hey, anyone know how to turn up the pump on these things? :D

24v bites the dust.

The 2000 Intense Blue Sport my sister owns was junked today. She got hit square in the rear by a semi. She has two fractures in her neck--wearing a "halo" thing for a while. She's still at Vandy. Everybody else was T&R.

I'm pretty sure she'll be okay.

Might try to buy the truck out of salvage. Hmmmm a 24v head for the puller? Gotta look at the bright side.

Awww man that sucks Wade! Glad to hear she's ok, but at the same time that was a BEAUITFUL TRUCK! :{

You know 24V heads flow more air I hear ;) :-laf

Let me know where it ends up, I would like the head light assemblies. ;)

Heavy,

Been there done that TWICE! 1982 Chevy LUV. Motors run forever. Fuel mileage was around 35 MPG. They are notorius for the beds rusting out (the cabs don't have that problem) and the transmission bearings are junk. Since they don't have the turbo don't expect much get up and go! Injector pump went out on the first one I had at around 95K miles. If it has AC watch for cracks in the compressor mounting bracket, mine fell off. There's also a little 90* coolant hose that's down inside that AC compressor bracket. Might want to keep one of them on hand since there's not enough room in there to make a loop.

We used a little Ford Courier to drag along behind some big trucks that we delivered where I worked in high school and we were constantly having to rebuild the front end on it so you might want to have that checked out.

Other than that they're great little trucks. I've wondered since getting my Dodge what one of the Isuzu's would be like with a turbo!

I said I hope she is alright before that! ;) :p :-laf

Alright fellas I got a buddy in a bind. My buddy "Buckeye Boy" Aaron from Ohio on my KYDTR site blew his mod'd turbo. No stocker anymore either it was took int on trade. He needs something ANYTHING just to bolt up to the truck. A stock HX35x12cm would be fine!

If you have a 12V he was talking about trading his set of JR Adkins Laser Cut DV's as part of it. Beware those yeild HIGH boost, but are worth $250!

If you can help my buddy out please do, you can reach him @ 513-304-7558.

Thanks to anybody who can!

Question

Maybe the wrong place to post, but Howdy Mid Tenn guys! Your friend from Northern Va will be heading down to Gatlinburg for a vacation soon and is wondering if there is anything going on in very late May, early June in that part of the state. Will keep an eye out. Thanks. (Still never got my spark plugs from the last visit down to ya' all) :-laf

Mark, I might have something... . left the ol man a vox mail. He has a HX35/12 and a HX35/14 non wastegated he might do some dealing with... You saying he'd trade them delivery valves for a turbo?

Yeah Gapper he'll trade his Laser Cut DV's (he claims 90 he got 90HP out of them on his 160pump, JR claims 40-60 on a 215pump) straight up for just a stock turbo. He may be more interested in the one with the 14 housing though. His name is Aaron his cell # is 513-304-7558 give him a call and see what he wants to do. THANKS GAPPER! ;)

It's a deal if'n he wants too. Daddy said he'd trade him the 35/12, he wants to keep the 14 non wastegated housing... . hard to find :) Guess we need to make arrangements...

Who's # do I give him to contact Gap?

I still think she'll recover okay. It will be slow and painful. Mom and I are alternating staying with her. Thanks for the well-wishes. Here's the truck.

She was punched out of the road by a Star Transport rig, then rolled up under the ramp bridge. The truck went all the way up and hit the steel underside of the bridge, then rolled back down toward the traffic lanes and came to rest. She helped the girls out and then collapsed.

Wade, all I can say is Holy Crap! Thems some scary pictures. Glad she is okay. Whereabouts did it happen?

Let us know if there is anything that we can do to help you guys out.

You gonna be able to buy it back? Interested in a few of those parts.

Finally getting the garage cleaned out to pull the truck in. Gonna replace the steering box with a PSC box and the steering shaft with a Borgenson. The steering is still too crappy and loose.

Later,

Jay

HOLY **** WADE! I thought you just meant she was a little banged up! :--) :--)

She's doing better.

Well I didn't want to burden everybody with the details, but she's up and around now. She sustained fractures to C1 and C2 (the uppermost neck vertebrae).

She's in a "halo" device with screws in her head to keep it positioned. Today she was able to get out of bed and sit in a chair and resume normal restroom functions. She should come home tomorrow.

Thanks for the support.

It occured Monday morning around 9 or 10, getting onto 840 from the 'boro. The ramp she rolled into is the last overpass going toward Smyrna. There's plenty of blue paint on it.

EVERBODY, especially the EMT's (one who swore he was going truck shopping) credit the Big Blue Dodge for saving everyone from much more serious injuries. Yes, she's hurt bad, but it could have very easily been much worse. AND the little girls (ages 10-11) walked away.

Safe motoring. ;)
