Hey does anybody know, or can anybody get, the number to the CB Shop at exit 163 I-40? It's the one across from the Shell station on Highway 48.

I never can keep up with their number.

Don't know that #, but what are you needing Hans?

Hey Mike,

Somebody more current on the 'boro might correct me but here's what I remember.

All of the hotels are going to be out by interstate. Parking is a good question to ask. I'm not sure, but the traffic is worse for the ones off exit 78. There's a truck stop and and a couple of hotels off exit 81 and it's easier to get to MTSU main campus. Get me an address for the location. It may be out on the north side of town--if so, you want 840-and exit 78 hotel

Danm, that waddn't much help. :p

Well, I don't have much indoor sleeping space- but I've got a field or woods to park and camp in,

Electric and Water hookup here at shop-no charge

no hookups in field or woods-still no charge. :-laf

The Double Tree is about as close as you can get to the Miller Col. and with boro traffic it will probably take you about 10 mins(on a good day)to get there from the hotel after you sit through all those red lights. The Double Tree is at Exit 78.

Mike

Like Wade, I don't have sleeping quarters, but I've got plenty of trailer space if you need a place to park it. I'm about 3-4 miles south of exit #81

Yep, I looked it up. The Miller thing is out there on Thompson Lane. Get the Doubletree rooms and pray for parking-there's plenty of pavement over there, it's just a cluster F. But it's less than a mile from the DT to Thompson Lane and just take that all the way over.

Then, if you leave from the pull, you can hit 840 real easy--at 41/70. ANYtime you can avoid the exit 78 area, is time well spent.

Is there I thread on this pull? The organizer talked to me about it a few months ago. I told him we could get PLENTY of street class trucks to run---looks like they went the other way. Fine. I'm not ready and will be happy to see the BIG IRON smoke!

Thanks for the help. I have got some rooms at the Double Tree. If it is that close to the pull then we might be able to leave the trailers on that site.

I can't remember what they charge for a super boost and connex board. Brittany's getting me a Uniden PC78 Elite and I want to get them to turn it up. Also wanted to get their thoughts on a couple of ideas before I brought it to them.

The last time I had one done from them was on a Cobra 29 and I think I remember spending around $120. But now that I think about it, that seems really high.

I was hoping that one of the Dickson boys could get it for me. HINT, HINT! ;) :D

Super Mod will run you $35 + tax @ my local shop, Connex Board will run you $79. 99 + tax. If you got that done for $120 you were doing alright!

My guy in Gallatin is AWSOME! but he's not cheap either. :rolleyes: :{

My current radio is a Cobra 148F (Freq Counter), I've already let him do a Super Mod, Connex Board, & some of his special tuning. Dead keys 2watts - swings 50! Oo.

My newest addition is a Uniden Grant XL (discontinued) already has a Super Mod, Connex, Upper & Lower Channel kit, and a road king mic. Can't decide if I want to just stick it on the shelf for later, or if I want to put it in my Chevy. I just bought it because I used to have one that I loved, and they are no longer made. :D

Of course there is always my very first "serious" radio..... a Cobra 25 Sound Tracker with Super/Power Mod's, bigger final, Connex, special tuning... . swings 40 watts  Not bad for a little radio. :-laf

I'm pretty sure that he charged either $59. 95 or $69. 95 for the Connex board and talkback on my old Cobra 29, but can't remember what he charged for the super boost. I may have bought some other stuff while I was there - I dunno. Maybe one of the guys can get me the number. I found it online once, but I can't remember how I got it. I tried 411.com but no results.

I think I'm gonna sell this Connex 4800DXL that I've got. It's got way too much stuff on it for me, and I want to try the new 4600 Turbo. It will push 150+ clean watts after tuning by itself (dual SC2290) finals) . The newer 4300HP will push 100 watts with just the single final, and it's much cheaper so I may try it. I've heard it's got some crazy loud audio.

Does that 4800 have the factory connex board or did you have to have it put in, like the eariler models. If it is a later model, I might have a friend who is interested. A good place to look for that 4300 and 4600 is ExportRadios.com. That is who I deal with, and there prices usually cant be beat.

I tried to find the number too. Couldn't find it either. I have used them though. I've gotten my meter replaced and "peak'd and tuned" and it was like $60, $30 for each(gotta love the $3/part $27/labor :)). Dead keying 2watts and swinging 20 on a littel Uniden66XL. Got marks ol Galaxy225 linear and a 102" steel whip and I can talk 30 miles consistantly if the noise is down. I was impressed. I guess nothing else, I can hook mine hook and holler at them from the house. Never even thought about it till now. I used them to dial her in when I installed it last time.

I am pretty sure it's $60ish dollars to install connex board. I asked what else could be done with mine. They said connex board or get another radio :)

Well my little ol' Icom 2000 keys 50 swings 50. The modulation is FM. Talks from KY to AL and the river to the plateau no matter the weather-or "conditions".

I am W1ADE and the wife is K4MZP and her mom is KF4GKN and her step-dad is NY4T. And the preacher at my wedding is N4SSD. There are two or three Nashville-area radio clubs. Stones River ARC is based in Nastyboro. Maury Co ARC is the biggest one down your way Hans.

ARC's--Amateur Radio Clubs, have websites and folks know each other by name. They usually have monthly meetings/programs. That's where you learn about weather spotting from the National Weather Service--and get a card so you can be an official "storm tracker". Almost all the field reporting of damage and conditions is done by radio amateurs. There's an annual event called "Field Day" We do ours on top of Short Mountain. Lots of other stuff.

And the radios are ready to use right out of the box. :-laf

Holler at me for more info--don't want to clog up the "Channel" :-laf :p

The 4800DXL is a pretty new radio - only been out for a couple of years. I bought mine new from 1 Stop Electronics last fall and had them peak and tune it. It's got chrome covers and the original box and papers. PM me if you think he might be interested. I'll let you know what I need for it.

Hey Gap - thanks for trying. If you happen to hook that radio up, give them a holler for me. I really need to call them before I drive over there.

JMBryant - I had forgotten about Pacetronics (exportradio.com). I actually tried to go there last night but their site is down or something. Maybe they'll have it up in a few days. You're right about their prices, I believe they were always at least $10 lower on most every radio and usually more.

I've been talking to Joe, and we're going to start planning our January meeting at his shop. I'll throw two dates out and you all tell me which you prefer.

January 21st or 28th.

There will be at least one vendor in attendance.

More on that later. I'll start a thread soon as we pick a date.

OK, got the CB shop number. Andy found the number for the Shell station and they were able to help. Thanks man!

I called and they're running a special on the super boost/connex board right now - $100 installed. But they don't know how long they're going to do the sale. Normally, a super boost is $55 (seems pretty high) and the connex board is $59. 95. So I guess I remembered correctly about spending $120 or more on my old Cobra 29.

They've also had good results with the Connex 4600 Turbo. That one is next on my list. :D I think I may stick my 4800DXL on ebay in a couple of weeks if I don't get rid of it before then.

I definitely can't make it on the 21st. The 28th looks good for me. That's the same weekend we had it last year.

Ah, the traditional January -freeze your donkey off- meeting in Dickson. :-laf

Either date is a go for me.

Going to the Drive-In picture show tonight. Mmmmm seat heaters.

Going to the woods in the morning--seef I can kill deer like Paul's boy does. ;)
