Glad ya made it back ok Tom, Justin and I were parked right next to ya yesterday. He had the Red 03 4x4 and I was in the 04 2wd same color as yours.

Fantastic Meeting folks. Thanks for ALL your support. Let's do it again sometime.

Oh yeah, March 11 got shot down. I thought (via Bean) that the 11th was a solid date, BUT Mr. Dunbar's support group can't play on that weekend. We had to shuffle to March 25. That one should stick. Talked to Mr. Bean this morning.

DYNO 25 MARCH

Sorry Steve.

Hey guys - there's a few guys over on the "other" site (Diesel Truck Resource) that are wanting to start a Mid-South chapter.

They asked me to post on here about a meeting they're having at 4 Wheel Parts here in Memphis this Saturday. It looks like they've only got about 3 people committed right now. I don't know if I'll be able to make it or not.

I doubt anyone would want to drive that far, but nevertheless, let me know if you need more info.

Clutch Crisis??

I need some honest opinions quickly. Im running the TST/EZ and in bad need of a clutch to handle it. (since I didnt win the ZOOM). I talked with a guy from Lebanon area w/ similar set up but with more bombs, running the Luk Cerametallic(rated at 1000tq), and he loved it. I looked it up and loved the price and it really does look like a great clutch. Called today and found a guy with a smokin deal on a CON-OFE. I am torn!! I know that SouthBend has great customer support from what Ive read. But I though that went I upgrade Turbos (soon) I might outgrow the OFE. To Beat all, they are very close in Price. I know the OFE will drive better but I am willing to give that up, if need be. What do you guys think???

I guess I ought to at least go login to the site. I haven't checked on it for quite a whille.

I'd like to meet up with some local folks, but I don't think this Saturday will work for me.

Gotta feel for you. but heck I got a auto sounds good and you might want to ping the full TDR site for what your looking at. I was looking hot and heavy at the TST stuff when the wife put a thumbs DOWN on it while at the show. Oh well good luck on what you decide.

JMBryant - the OFE is a 500HP clutch. Peter underrates them and he'll tell you that. I'm guessing that a TST/EZ stack will yield 150HP tops (with adequate air). Doesn't look like you have any other upgrades so I don't think you're risking outgrowing the OFE.

The OFE is a great clutch. I can't comment on the Cerametallic - it might be an awesome clutch. But just a heads up - a South Bend is a modified Luk clutch as well. I think the material used on the South Bend clutches is what makes them so great.

Anyone feel free to correct me here. I'm a 2nd gen guy!

Tim - we're gonna have to meet up sometime. It's crazy I've been down here 3 years and we haven't ever met. Have you moved downtown yet? We'll have to meet up for coffee somewhere at the least.

Shoot me a PM when you have some free time. Thursdays and Fridays are wide open for me as are most weekends (except for the ones when I head to Hohenwald).

Hey all, hope ya'll enjoyed me not being at another meeting LOL, I got to see some country this past weekend, maybe I will make it to the next one, I ain't even gonna say I'll be there and maybe I will make it this time.

My 12. 25 (the little Con OFE-no longer produced) holds 473/1040 most of the time, and it has many miles on it. A 13" would be great for 500 or less.

I slipped the FE the other day! :-laf  I don't think it had been broken in properly--now it has!

Would love to hear some feedback on the Zoom product.

One of the Memphis DTR guys was at our meeting. Rock on.

I drove the Zoom truck. Engagment/Shifting was AWSOME! Smooth as silk..... I never really tested it good though cause the guy got a deer in the headlights look when I asked to drive.

Seems like a really good clutch, but its only been tested to less than 800Ft/Lbs of torque which limits you to like 400HP or less. :( Another dis-like was very high engagement on the clutch pedal.

NV5600 Swap

Hey guys - I'm thinking waaaaaaay down the road here, but have any of you ever done any reading or had any experience with doing a 6-speed swap in a 5-speed truck? If I ever have to go to a dual disc clutch which would require an 1 3/8" input shaft upgrade, I might as well go ahead and put a reman 6-speed in (or a used one with a warranty). I could probably get the whole transmission for twice what the input shaft would cost. The extra gear would be nice. I think it would be worth it.

Any thoughts? Would the transfer case bolt right up? Driveshafts the same length?

Just thinking out loud here...

Hons, Me and joe are actually fixing to do one with/for a friend. I know on his the drive shaft is different. But I think it is cause it's a 97. We'll let you know in a few weeks how it goes.

Mark, You can adjust where the pedal engages. I'd imagine they can hold more. I may be wrong. I thought he said to me and I also had read somewhere that the clamp force at idle vs as the rpm goes up, the clamp force increase 600ft lbs or 600 psi clamp force. Whats the point to doing all that work to those Zoom pressure plates when a centerforce/luk/spicer will hold 400hp?

Gap all I meant was that's as far as its been tested right now. He said that dually dynoed right under 800 Ft/Lbs TQ. Your right about the clamping force going up with the RPM. Kinda like counter weighted fingers in Haisley's Pulling Clutch. The more RPM you give it the more clamp force it exerts. ;)

If I'm not mistaken, the dually had their stage one clutch. After he drove my truck, he mentioned that I would be in the class of the stage two clutch. I didn't get any other details at the time. I plan on talking more with him about it soon.
