Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Zoom ZVT

I recently had the opportunity to travel to South Carolina and visit with Gary Croyle and the folks at Perfection Clutch. It was great experience spending time with Gary and trying to take in a small amount of his vast knowledge of his 26 years experience in the clutch business. I had the chance to tour the building and see more clutches of various types and sizes in one spot that you would think possible. The clutch lab with all the test equipment was pretty impressive.

I also had the chance to have one of their ZVT stage 2 clutches installed from the ZOOM performance clutch line in my truck. After putting 177,000 miles on my stock clutch, it was on its last mile. The ZVT is a very impressive and unique clutch, using centrifugal force to increase the clamping load as the engine rpm increases. Gary is the man to contact for more specific information on this product.

The whole experience was wonderful and the hospitality was second to none. How many companies can you go into and meet the president and vice president, let alone have them take time out of their schedules to talk to you and make you feel at home.

I know a lot of people in the TDR are partial to the other brand of clutch. I would just like to say if you are considering purchasing a clutch, do take a second look at the ZOOM. From my own personal experience, I feel it would be worth you time to contact Gary and the other fine folks at Perfection Cutch with all your questions.

There are also a couple of other people that helped make this trip possible. Thanks again Andyman and Piston Slapper.

After having it in for a week now, I can say that I have no complaints. It is performing just as I was told it would. Pedal effort is better than stock and comparable to my wife’s Honda. There is some noise under a load in 4th gear. All other gears are quiet, nothing to really complain about. I’m still getting used to the button disc and the aggressiveness associated with it, although it is getting better as the miles add up and I get used to having it. A small amount of chatter is noticed in a 1st gear take-off from a dead stop, and a little more noticeable in 2nd gear. No noticeable difference in driving manners at highway speeds over a stock clutch. Once again, it is getting better as I adjust to having a high performance clutch. All of the small issues listed above were explained to me when making the decision of choosing a stage 1 or stage 2 by Gary. He asked me if I wanted drivability or torque capacity. I chose torque for future upgrades. Overall, I’m satisfied with the ZVT, but the rear tires may have a different opinion.

Hey hotram, i have the aluminum intake horn that came off an '03 (i was told) that came with a kit i bought, it has two tapped ports for the snow system that can be easily plugged if you're interested. rob.

Oo. Oo. Oo.

After using Meacham's to retrieve a lame trannied Duramax, and the 12K Warn not even flinching... . yeah we knew what we needed. Got this MileMarker pretty cheap though. ;)

Now I just gotta finish buying some lights so we can start re-wiring. I bought all new 6-strand wire from BJ's Trailers today, but I'm gonna order replacement LED's off Ebay. :D

Racerrob I appreciate it but I just ended up ordering one from Lebanon Dodge, not as bad as I thought, 61. 46 + tax, thanks for the offer, I may still be interested though, it has no port work done does it? And it is for on 03 and up? PM me here and will talk. thanks

Mark, I ordered my stuff off of Eastern Marine and it was really cheap, I had called BJ's that they seemed a little expensive. I am going to have to re wire my whole trailer, the plug back, it's not going to be any fun!!! :{ Just thought you would wanna know. Talk to you later on.

Great clutch report Anthony. So you'll be on the dyno next time eh? ;)

Status of Red Sport:

Head reassembly in progress. HD valve springs in place with a little bit of port work done by me. ATS manifold back together--was hell getting it apart. Had to heat it. BEST way to reassemble (after a little port cleaning up) is to bolt the center section to your old manifold, then (with anti-seize) gently drop the the old and new together until holes line up--watch the rotation. Then do the other end. Found that in the forums here. Works fine with no heat. Also retorque those bolts after a heat cycle or two.

Ordered an HTB2 62/14 for it.

So that's a new charger, sticks, head, porting, valve-job, valve springs, fire-rings, studs, manifold, and timing. Cheryl should have a pretty solid ride now. :p Maybe I'll get to drive it. :D

Yeah, I'm feeling some better.

I only bought the 6-strand from BJ's... . they are nuts if they think I'm buying lights from them! :-laf

Ebay is your friend brother! Oo. Pack of 4 amber side marker LED's $20 + $5 shipping. ;) We replacing everything with LEDs :D We'll probably start pulling all the old wire out and running the new 6-strand Saturday..... that is if we're not pulling a 700R4 out of my brothers 1/2 ton.

I'm Kentucky bound Sunday though... ... . I'm itching to hook to a sled! Oo.

i heard wade was under the red hood, steven went to knoxville, i've been out in the yard. went to get mulch here in smyrna, saw a white ctd in the pkg lot, turns out the guy was running bio too. i gave him the tdr plug and the general 24v fuel pressure monitoring advice. told him about trouble finding veg. oil sources, he recommended buying it. so... anybody got any cooking oil for sale? offering . 10-. 20 per gal. depending on quality. rob

Hey Girlz,

Which Walboro pumps are you running? I been looking hard at the FASS high performance pump but money is getting tight and thought about going this direction first. Thanks!

Crazygator I'm running a FASS 150 gph, I like it, its alot quieter since I put a 1/2 pick-up tube in, works for me , just my . 02... ...

The Walbro pump that most guys are running is the 392 model. There is a guy over on DTR that has put together a kit that has the pump, wiring harness and everything you need over on his website. I think that his kit is for the 3rd Gens, but the 2nd Gens are on the way. www.glacierdieselpower.com

Still Looking for a Motor - Need your Eyes and Ears

Hey guys - we are still looking for a good 5. 9 Cummins to go in my buddy's 2001 F-350. I'd like to see him put a 215hp 12 valve in it, but we would probably consider anything at this point.

So if anyone knows of a 94-02 5. 9 anywhere close, please let me know. We've been looking for wrecked trucks too but haven't had any luck there either.

If I don't hurry up and find a motor for this thing, he's gonna start throwing money at that 7. 3 Powerstroke and try to get it to run like a Cummins. :-laf

HELP!

Hawkeye 04 welcome to the club!!! Sounds like you have your work cut out for you already when you get here. Good luck with it all and let us know if there is anything that we can do for you. I might be talking to you about getting our driveway paved once you get out, have to check with the other half. Speaking of the other half, I popped the question on Friday while all the rain was beating us down, she said yes. Date will be sometime next Spring. I'll keep ya all posted, we might have to figure out a place to have a celebratory truck pull to set it off right!!!!! :-laf

Shay

well congrats, but let me tell you what i told smokendieseldork and his new wife

" for the first year you will just want to eat each other up, after that you'll wish you did" :-laf

Head is on. If I ever get the rocker assemblies to quit messing around, I'll start the torque procedure.

So the pushrods weren't properly seated. Now the head be torqed down and the rest of the reassembly begins. Lost a bolt already. :{

Other stuff. Congrats on the engagement, hoorah on the big hit. Our girls start playing this week. Cheryl and I are assistant coaches.

Hey JOE SQUARES, can you work me up a list of all-terrain/rock/mud tires in 285/16 or 33x12. 50-ish in size WITH 10-ply rating? Don't worry with pricing them until I narrow down my choices. Thanks.
