Hey guys Lafayette's doing it one more time! Friday Aug. 11th! Truck & Tractor pull @ the Macon County Fairgrounds. Starts @ 7PM. We're gonna be having a Street & Open diesel class with payouts. $150, $100, $50 for both classes and trophy's to the winners.

26" hitch, 8500lbs, hanging weights allowed in both classes no nitrous/propane in street.

From what I've heard already there will be a lot of boys coming from KY that are just as hot as my truck so this should be a really good pull for such a small local town. Y'all really outta come if you can $7 or $8 to get in.

Mark,

Is the pull still a go Friday?

Thanks for the info Nick.

Yah, I'll get with you Shay. I've turned into a lazy bum though, so you might have to slap me around. hehe.

Glad to see Jeff Cotton made it. He said he wasn't want'n a monster, but y'all wait and see. He's a HP maniac in the gasser world. I can't wait to see what he does with this diesel.

Yeah man I'm ready to turn it up. I ordered a 10 plate and 3k springs today. I have a big air filter in the living room waiting for me to put on and the gauges are still in the back seat... . I just need to make the time to install them. I'm sure I'll be ready for more once these mods are installed. 160HP?? Not for long!! Oo.

Hey Jeff, glad to have you.

I'd run the timing to 16-18 degrees and put an AFC spring in. I have an extry spring- the $45 kit comes with one for both big and little pumps. Helps fine tune when the smoke comes on. Save hard and fast for transmission upgrades. Oo.

The transmission has an ATS triple disk converter and some other goodies. It was rebuilt a couple of years ago and supposedly has less than 30k on it. The guy gave me the receipt and it looks like they did the convertor, shift kit, extra clutches, and some valve body mods. I hope it will hold up, but will find out one way or the other pretty soon!

Thanks for the tips on the timing and AFC. I'll do that. I heard adjusting the timing on these things is tough.

Chalk up another win for the Hillbilly Express. Oo. Oo.

Stayed on the phone with the Macon County Fair board every couple hours yesterday. Even though it rained everywhere else it didn't rain in Lafayette yesterday... till 7PM. At 7:15 I was told by the offical it was canceled..... and at 8:30 I got a :-{} phone call from one of my pulling buddies from Glasgow telling me to get to Lafayette now. Sorry Ashley I forgot to call you back and tell you it was still on.

Anyways here is the Lafayette Results.

Mark Harris 332. 0 / 322. 5 pull off

David Tabor 325. 9 / 306. 6 pull off

Joesph Stinson 294. 8

Here's the video if anyones interested.

congrats

Mark,

The way it was raining at home and the way the radar looked, I never would have thought the pull would happen. Congrats on the win. Hate I gave up on going so soon.

That transmission should work. My Suncoast (single) now has 50k and 15 official pulls on it.

Timing is a funny thing. Sometimes it goes real easy, sometimes it don't. Gotta have the tools. EASIEST way is to pay Meacham to do it. Your fingers don't even get greasy. :-laf

Keep your ear to the ground for a 215 pump. That's my bestest ever upgrade on the '95. You have to tell the junkyard that you want a pump for a 96,97,98 manual transmission. They don't know what a 215 or 887/913 pump is.

I didn't know that Piers has already built "my" ford. Saw it in the magazine. Maybe he'll be ready to sell it when I get ready to buy.

Congrats Mark. Glad to see ya got the stacks back on. I do always enjoy the video!

It took a 15 hour round trip to St. Louis to get the 4BT bread truck home! It run's great. The neighbor hood must hate me. :D It's got a shifter that would make Hans jealous! :-laf As always, thanks to Robert Tucker! He did a fine job of co-pilot.

You wouldn't believe how much crap I got for not having my stacks on in Scottsville last month. Even my own father gave me a hard way to go! :-laf

See the thing the tailpipe I have now is interchangeable. I have a small section of flex & a 90* elbow I use to connect my stacks. However, when I want to run a tailpipe I just fish it in from the back and it slides right into a 4"-4" union and clamps on. bolt the brackets from the tailpipes to the ones on the frame and wa-la! Tailpipe! Just have to make me some little spacers to get the toolbox higher to clear the crossover box for when I take the stacks off. I plan to keep it this way so when I go a long ways out of town (IRP & Scheid) I can run the tailpipe. The stacks aren't loud per-say with the club cab, they just leave a drone in your ears after 4. 5 hrs. :-laf

Congrats. on the win, you put on a good show also. By the time I pulled it was raining and almost everyone was gone. My truck weighed in at 6200lbs and could not get any traction. It was the first time I ever pulled but not the last.

Well if my fiance hadn't been with me I would have stayed & pulled in the open class. Although I never even heard them mention it so I thought they weren't having it. Would have been nice to have another $150 in my pocket that night! :-laf

I gotta redo my weight bracket AGAIN though. During the pulloff when I clutched it and the sled & I both jerked to a stop my spot welds (also grade 8 bolted) on my weight bracket broke. Thus sending my weights into the mud so I had to get out and with the help of some locals we pulled 'em off so I could get off the track. :-laf

I'm done for this year, but I should be back with a few more tricks next year to retain my title in Lafayette. :D
