Might be coming back to 1st gens. Couple ?'s

Well been away on the 2nd gen forum for awhile now, but I may be coming back here.



I have a really nice 4 door 98 but only problem is its 2wd and I really need 4wd. BTW it is for sale!



Found a really nice 93 dually with low miles on it. I had a 93 dually before but that had a auto whereas this has the 5spd. Supposedly the trans was rebuilt 10k miles ago for unknown reason. The pumped has been turned up a bit and all in all the only thing she needs is tires.



What are the first gen weaknesses again? If any? I remember the trans was an issue but all in all that was it right?

Make sure to overfill the trans by at least 1 qt. On my buddies 93 W350 we put a 90* elbow in the filler plug hole and angled it straight up after the trans was installed. Shadrach

Problem # 2, they don't make enough performance parts! :-laf



The usual 4x4 stuff, ball joints, steering ends, box on the steering column, front D shaft, axle u-joints. Lately it seems there is a rash of PCM failures, make sure it charges, A/C works (if equipped).

Check the exhaust manifold for shrinkage if it's been turned up. A new aftermarket manifold is over 4 bills. :{
