President GEORGE W BUSH!!!

Took that Marlin back to the range today after mounting the Burris Compact 1x4 scope. I wanted to finish off the box of Remington 300gr HP's and try some handloads. I loaded 350gr Hornady RN's over IMR 3031 which the manual listed as 1600fps. 50yd groups could be covered with a quarter and 100yd groups about twice that.

I've owned and shot a number of rifles over the years but this Marlin is a blast (literally) to shoot. It certainly shows a lot of potential and is my favorite so far.

Making me jealous, 243... #ad
I wish I had my 45-70 Marlin 1895SS back... Other than my AR-15, or my Springfield M1A-A1, it was the most accurate rifle I had, till I traded it. Actually, I could outshoot the other two rifles with it, something I never could figure out. If I'm ever down Texas way, I'd like to go shoot a few tin cans, with ya.

Yep, my XP100 in the similar 458 x 2" chambering was accurate too. I generally used the 400 Barnes or Speer at 2175 fps in it. Took it silhouette shooting once. It holed or buckled every target that was hit. They asked me not to bring it back. I had to go back to my 7mm-08 XP100 and my Super Blackhawk #ad
