Gentlemen,

Here is the code red situation:

Had the dreaded injection pump go bad. Replace dreaded pump with II Hot Rod. Hot Rod not right, replace with another Hot Rod. Pump appears to be running great. Truck sounds/runs great as expected. Only problem is fuel consumption has gone from 18-20 MPG to 11-13 MPG.

We have just tried resetting the Smarty to zero and cleared all codes. Only other thing that has gone wrong has been the gas gauge misreading occasionally.

Is this a bad ECM? Possible bad/clogged sensor: IAT, APPS, MAT, BVD, ABC, ETF, WTF??????? Mileage went poor when the new pump went in, but I have heard that mileage stays the same or slightly improves, so I was just wondering if something could have happened to go wrong elsewhere.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks

interesting as I too have a 98. 5 and my 20mpg DROPPED to 17 with a new 235 VP pump. Seemed the MPG was IMPROVING as the 215 pump was dying! It lost near 100hp when it finally went. Now I have all that back and a few more but the MPGs have gone away some. In fairness I dont have many miles (under 2k) on this pump maybe there is a break-in?

Yeah, I am thinking that the new fuel isn't hping either. It was just funny how this started right after the swap. Considering trying to swap to a standard pump again and see what happens. Will definitely clean IAT. Is there anything electric that could have gone bad from the install somehow?
