I am considering the purchase of a 2006 Ram 3500 single wheel, diesel, 48RE auto, 373 rea end, 4X4. Does anyome have experience with a similar 2005 model regarding the mileage aftewr the break in period of about 15, 000 miles in:

1. city

2. Highway

3. Towing (10,000)

I have the same thing. Towed 8000 up from Montana this spring, truck had 2200 miles on it, OH read 13-14MPG. City/daily driving about 15mpg, OH. And I had calculatd the first time a couple weeks ago, went 400 miles with cruise set at 65 and I got 18. 5MPG and 10,500 miles on the ticker. The overhead was within . 2mpg when I hand calced. Had the Edge set on 40HP with all these readings.

It is a good truck buy one :D

Hope that helps

Probably not too many 2006's out there with 15k on them. Shouldn't be much different that a 2005. FWIW, I get 19 commuting, about 11 towing 10k, and up to 21. 5 on the freeway.

mileage

I am getting 22mpg and have 35000 on the clock just put edge juice/attitude

I must get the worst mileage on the planet! I'm averaging 16 mpg city/highway and 10mph when towing @ 12,000 lbs. Seems other's get much better than 10 mpg when towing and this 18-22 mpg stuff is not part of my world.

Gallon I'm with you, my daily comute is 15 miles each way and about 1/3 of it is city streets that takes about 10 minutes. The remainder is all freeway. I try to keep it about 2000 RPM or 70 MPH and get about 16. 5-17. 0 MPG. Iam not sure if it's my right foot or the fact that I only have 2K miles on it so far.

On a recent trip I got close to 20MPH at 70 MPH.

NOT FAIR!

I have my '03 with the HO, which is supposed to be more efficient than the 325/600's. The best tank I've ever seen is 19. 5 (with my 285's) and that was freeway only at 70 with cruise control.

Now I get about 15-16, whether in town or freeway.

Time to put on the 285's again and drive like granny...

Or not :D This truck is too much fun to worry about fuel!

Any Enhancements for 2005 Diesel - Lack Power

Went from 1996 Dodge Diesel with power pack and chip that pulled 12,000 fifth wheel w/o problems to 2005 5. 7L Hemi gas engine. Bad choice as would not pull hill faster than 40MPH at 3. 5 MPG. As soon as returned from first trip, returned to dealer and traded for 2005 Diesel 5. 9L. Power better and mileage now 11. 5 MPG pulling 12,000 with the diesel - MUCH MORE power than Hemi but not as much as modified 1996. Any modifications recommended to improve mileage and power for 2005 Dodge Ram 5. 9L? DODGE HEMI SUCKS

I got 16. 3 MPG city driving out of my first tank on my 06. Have not used the second tank up yet. GAllen, I had two 97 CTD one with 3:55 and one with 4:10's and the 4:10's MPG was all most half what the 3:55's would do. Same truck, same jobs, same diesel and oil, even the same paint. Never had 4:10's again. Just a thought.

No you just tell the truth. My milage is about the same as yours.

I'm just under 1000miles on my 06'. The 3rd tank was 15. 9mpg/hand calculation. The overhead said 13. 8mpg.

450 miles at approx 85mph... . 17. 4 mpg hand calc... if i'm only going 65-70 it gets approx 19-20... ... what kills you is city driving or short drives (becasue mileage sucks when the engine is warming up)... on my 8 mile commute, i only get about 15-16 mpg... ... and it's mostly freeway... .

My MPG

Drove to Cedar City, UT from So Cal (414 miles) with utility tandem trailer with 8000# in trailer and truck bed. Mileage was 18 mpg going and 19. 5 coming back (empty with trailer). Thought that was good. I'm only 2 wheel drive.

No, I would say that you have a good set of batteries in your calculator. :-laf It's the time of year that everyone claims to get just a bit better than the guy that posted before. Happens every year when they bring out the latest truck. :-laf
