curb weight of a ram???

last weekend I pulled the TT (GCWR 13,280 ~) to Flagstaff (elevation 6905) from Phoenix (ele. 1092) and back averaging 11. 2 mpg for the 334. 1 mile trip. This is all Interstate hwy. with a climb out of Phx to over 4000 feet dropping down to 3160 then back up to Flagstaff.

Temps were all above 90 until about 20 miles out of Flag. I usually get above 12 mpg but did feel a little loss of power, there be it, more pedal which I attribute to the heat.

How do these numbers compare to you members.

2 weeks ago I did Mesa to Rocky Point. Im at 21,000 GCW. I got 9. 5 mpg. Traveling 55 to 60 mph. Thats a fairly flat run. Bill

I pretty much get 10-11 driving up and down some of the bigger sized passes on I-15 (Cali/Nev/Utah). I've got as good as 11. 5 and as low as 9. A lot depends on the wind and how much you're hammer-down. I like to tow in OD so normally I'm rolling 65-70ish sometimes a tad higher.

1993 D350 C&C, 5spd, 3. 54, 11ft flatbed, pulling a 20ft BP flatbed trailer, empty gross of 9250, got 17. 5mpg; loaded with hay to 22-23K GCVW, averaged 12-13, going 65-70 in 5th through west KS, eastern CO.

Something to be said for mechanical controls, I guess.

lizzyhermit, I am moving to Mesa in just a few weeks... Got any warnings/tips for me?!

Is there such thing as cheap diesel out there? Hoping to open up a car hauling business.

moving in the summer ?

not the best time to come to the "valley of the sun" but hey your more than welcome. I live in the northwest valley so don't know much about Mesa.

Clouds are building in the east each day so hopefully the monsoons are soon to be upon us. Water and cooler temps...

Diesel is about $2. 09 round about the PHX area. In Flagstaff it was $1. 97.

$1. 819 at the flying J on I-10! That ain't so so so so so bad. I gotta come some time, but hey I'm used to 98F with 80% humidity. I think I will be ok.

P. S. 12 MPG is about what I'd get too. Speed seems to make a big difference. If you dropped the flat stretches down to 55 it'd probably shoot right up. But who really wants to go 55 mph ? :)

FLYING J cash price 8 cents cheaper

That Flying J at 67 Ave and I-10 does something funny with their advertizing on fuel prices.

The web was $1. 819 like the previous post said, but when I filled up there Monday morning, the CASH price is $1. 739

Use a credit card and get hit for $1. 819 :(

I used a debit card and was pleased to be billed same as cash :)

Even driving the extra 20 mile round trip from my work location, it is still worth the trip. I have a 50 gal aux tank though. ;)

Also, if you purchase diesel at either Ray Rd and Gilbert (Texaco) or Ray Rd and Lindsey (CobbleStone) you will get prices about 15 cents/gallon cheaper than the in city prices. Those two locations are in a "Rural Zone" and don't have the low sulphur fuels required in the metro area. :) :D

The Flying-J always posts the price the big trucks have to pay with the road taxes added. We pay 9 cents less than they do. Get a Flying-J card from their website and get an additional 1 cent off.
