Does anyone out there in TDR land know if the elephant ear style mirrors form the 2002’s will fit on a 98. I tow a lot and the mirror extensions I have now are junk. I’ve looked at aftermarket mirrors and like the one’s on the 2002’s better than the after market ones. I have heated and adjustable mirrors now and would like to retain those features. Thanks, Jeff

They should fit just fine. Get the 2001 Tow Mirrors kit from your nearest dealer. Comes with both mirrors, backing plates, plastic xmas tree fasterners etc.

You'll need a trim removal tool as well to install them. Only takes an hour or so.

Did my 99 and love them for towing.

Fred

Unfortunately, you can't get heat and power with the flip up towing mirrors. At least not yet. I would hold off a bit as I have heard that an aftermarket set of powered flip-upmirrors might be available in the future.

You may wish to consider CIPA towing mirrors. Heated and adjustable. Got mine from stylinconcepts.com. Best price I could find and I am VERY satisfied with mine.

I have the Powervision mirrors and they come with power adjustment, heat and power extend. They are pretty stable with very little vibration and also breakaway when pushed on

Stylinconcepts' mirrors are quite a bit cheaper than Geno's but they literally rape you with shipping and handling (I bought my CIPA's from them when Genos was out of stock). Geno's ends up barely a little more expensive because they don't take advantage of customers. I would support Geno's and say the heck with the "walking the fine line" of false advertising sythlin' concepts!

One more thing, it took forever to get the shipment from stylin concepts. you'll get a followup email after your order telling you when they're expected to arrive... it's like 3 weeks after you order! If you read the fine print, it takes 5 *business* days for them to even get your order shipped out! ... and then another 5 business days for UPS ground. If you want express delivery they absolutely rape you. It was something like $180 (don't quote me) for 2nd day delivery... it could of been next day I don't remember... but still ridiculous! Geno's uses the exact shipping charges on UPS' site based on weight and size... . they don't inflate it!

I ordered mine from Stylin Concepts, and had them shipped UPS ground . The shipping was only $20, and I had them in less than a week. I believe they were shipped directly from the factory.

You live pretty close to them... I live in AZ so it's quite a bit further. Geno's is in Georgia and they extremely quick.

I am so ****** off at my floppy ass stock tow mirriors, I could scream

If anyone has a set of take off non towing mirrors for a reasonable price.

Please shoot me an email. I need a fix for the non tow season

Thanks

Has anyone looked at just making an extension for the stock mirrors out of either alum or plastic? I haven't taken mine apart yet to see exactly how they are made/assembled, but that is what I am considering before I buy new ones.

Anyone?

Bob if your referring to the '01 flip up tow mirrors as the "floppy @$$ tow mirrors" I'll take them off your hands!

While it won't work for 2nd generation trucks, for 1st generation vehicles the mirror tubes can be reversed, than add a 5" convex mirror and fit it between the door and the vehicle mirror to eliminate the blind spot beside the truck.

Drove my '93 D250 like that for over three years, much better, towing or not towing.

im in the middle of this swap and when im done i will have a set of non power mirrors for sale for a 03

I'm curious, how are the directions? Did you run into any problems? How long did/will it take you?

Later, Rob

well the directions are good im makeing a tool to take them apart cause the "hammer and chisel" meathod is for the birds. it wouldnt take long but im still waieting for the mirrors from the dealer i got the ones from the 02 in 2 days for 196 bucks the other set is a little over 300 but will take me another 2 weeks to get them. My wife cant wait till i get them to work she was bummed to find out after i bought the truck that the mirrors were manual. I wasnt going to do this mod right away but i cleaned the driver mirror off backing in i tight spot :{ so i figured nows the time. after paying for this conv. i will be more careful when backing my trailer for now on hehehe

Tow mirrors

while closing the driver's door the other day, to my horror, the convex mirror glass fell off and shattered on the driveway! A call to the dealer revealed that no replacement glass is available for the tow mirrors. later while adjusting the main mirror, I noticed that the glass was loose from most of its backing. I currently have it duct taped so it won't fall off.

I plan to try to add silicone glue if possible.

any guidance would be great!

Brian
