Ugh... . my 89 seems to have developed a miss when cold. Before i would just have a light haze when cool, now the past few weeks it likes to miss one one cylinder when you give it some gas, the smoke is a blueish/white. Haven't changed the fuel filter in a long time but i don't think that would make it miss and smoke when cold. After about 5 minutes of running the miss goes away... . im thinking a partially gummed up injector? I was thinking of replacing the fuel filter and fill the filter with powerservice and pour about 5 times the amount of powerservice i normally put in my tank... whatcha think?

have you checked your KSB? its the little cylinder that sits on the side of the injector pump, bout the size of a D-battery. has a small wire going into the back of it. that advances the timing of your motor when its cold out. if you start it cold, and then pull that wire off the back, listen real close, if you hear the idle noise change then its working, but if you remove the wire and nothing really changes, then thats probly the issue... or at least a contributing factor.

also, somthing thats worth a shot. ive never done it on these cummins, but on old john deeres... to check your injectors, go down the line and crack one injector at a time and youll know right off if their good or bad... if their good, the idle will change drastically, if their bad, nothing will change.

hmm, both good ideas. i don't think its the ksb because it is just one cylinder missing. i was actually going to narrow it down with a temp gun on the exhaust runners.
