A simple compass works great for me #ad

I got the manual one and it can be a pain sometimes. I plan on adding the gauge that shows elevation angle this year. Then I will only have to fumble on the Left to right adjustment.

As long as your rig is level, I crank the dish up all the way, and turn back down a pre deturmened number of turns (I forget the number, its writen down inside the RV). That gets you close, then pan left to right slowley while watching the TV VU screen.
I have a small mirror under the couch I lean against a chair so I can see the TV while turning the dish.

PS: I have the Wineguard, they are pretty strong. I left it up one time, facing into the wind, at 65 MPH and it received no damage. As soon as the guy passing me pointed up at the RV Roof, I knew what I did DUH.

How does the subscription service work? Do you subscibe with dish network just like when you use the small dish at home??

George, I've heard that some people just take the whole system from their house when they go RVing, use the same subscription. That's what I was planning on doing.

I do the oposite. I bought it for my TT since I use it for my contracting jobs. Then I put a dish on my house so when I come home for the weekend I bring the dish box with me. Right now I'm watching the gints and bums play ball in LA. Da bums bet 'em 10-1 last night. UGH!!

Joe, now that I think of it your system could be better, especially if the dish is mounted to your trailer and you can park close enough to your house where the cable doesn't get in the way. I know that the dish can be a good distance from the receiver, a friend's is 200 feet from his house to clear a mountain.

Bill,

That's not it. I just toss the box in the back seat of the truck when I come home. The dish is mounted on the roof of my house. The one on the house is a simple clamp to a pole cheap setup. I just had to aim it once and that should be it. Unless, of course, the house decides to move because of some earthquake one of these days. There is one place that I can "see" the satelite thru the trees. There is no need for two subscriptions. The key card that sticks in the box is the subscription not the dish.

Yeah, you gotta spend some money to make it easy. There is a gaget that automatically finds the satelite. Camper World sells it. Some folks think it's too much money but I really like mine. I don't know what they cost now since I've had mine for three years.

I have a dish on my RV. Camping World sells a device called Digital Magic which gives you a readout of the dish elevation. Then all you have to do is find the correct azimuth. It makes aiming the dish real simple.
