I think alot of readers hear would like to know about what MOD's

You would do again

What MOD's you would not do again.

What MOD's you might do a little differently

And what MOD's you regret or would not do again

plus any reasons why or why not

Thanks

I will start: So far the one thing I thought I wanted until I got it, and would not do it again... I would not do Dual exhaust again.

I cant say I dont like it but I dont think it looks right on the truck, Although when I had my 22. 5 alcoa big rig wheels on there and the truck was sitting high, then the duals looked good, I think it just fit the look, but now with stock tires and the stock height I cant say as I would do it again.

The thing I am happy with and would do again are:

I would DEFINETELY do the TST again :D But self control is required with this box

I would definetely do the Super B Special turbo again

I would definetely do my Pac brake again in any brand (if you dont have one already you need one, and if you have one then go without it sucks)

I would also do the 2" level kit

NEXT

I would not do the 5" stacks

I would do 6" stacks! :D

I'd be lost without my TST

Other than that, next time I'd like to have more money for all the other stuff I want!

Hopefully, there will be alot more responses for us "Newbie" diesel owners.

So far my mod's have been "White Night" backup lights - would do again.

Amsoil drop in air filter (flat panel) - would do again.

I've purchased the ISSPRO gauages (Tran Temp, 60psi Boost, EGT), but haven't installed yet.

I'd do smarty, mbrp cat delete and muffler on stock pipes- sounds good- I'd definately do all that again :D . I'd buy a new tst in the future, I had an old one and sold it cause I can't see stacking it with smarty already on 170hp  - an otherwise stock truck(the new rail pressure control would be cool). I'd just go ahead and buy the afe stage 2-instead of the drop in next time. Also I'd buy the complete fass, instead of the pump only- I have a 2mic filter now, but it would have been nice to have it all in one unit. I actually don't have any mods I'm unhappy with, just a few I'd do different. Its far from done, but its done untill I get the 98. 5 running REAL good! :-laf

would not's

bullydog triple dog.

nitto terra grapplers (should have gone with the BFG ATKO'S)

(reasoning because i drive like and idiot and they are wearing to fast. )

II injectors

pressure box

fass pump

I guess I forgot to mention GUAGES, but I figured that was a no brainer and I most definetely would do them again

NOT

-terra grapplers

-bully dog triple dog

-aeroturbine

Have worked great, but should have done different

-AFE... ..... I would do a dry type filter second time around

-con ofe... Shoulda went dual disk or FE

-banks 4". . Shoulda went 5" from the start

-Fass 95... . Had to buy the Walbro 392 to get enough fuel to the new CP3

Wouldn't trade

-TST

-DDP 90's

-Pacbrake

-Cepek Fun country ll's

-Motoblue 5"

-Silver bullet

-II's CP3

Would nots:

-NV5600 equipped truck. Should have bought a 48RE.

-AFE stage I

-Banks Technicooler- Not enough bang for the buck

-Banks Exhaust- I like the MBRP better

-BD Blow-off valve. Junk. Would not recommend on anything but an auto truck. Sticks open between shifts and kills your 1/4 mile runs. Seals blow out regularly. Stay away.

-Bully Dog Triple Dog- Waste of $$$. Get a Smarty

-FASS 150- LOUD, LOUD, LOUD! Started out quiet, but after 10k miles it started cavitating constantly, even with big fuel lines. The other problem is losing fuel capacity. The truck is now empty at 1/4 tank. No solution in sight.

-II SPS66- It sucks with a manual trans. Super laggy

-Organic dual disc clutch- Can't pull with it

-Kore Chase- Go for the Race system. Go big or go home.

Would do again:

-AFE Stage II w/ PG7

-BD Short-Shift

-Tomeygun SRT-10 Hurst shifter

-Isspro EV gauges-sweet!

-Spa rail gauge-sweet!

-DLeno rail gauge-sweet!

-II SPS62- simply an awesome turbo! Fast spooling, no barking, better cooling on my truck than the 66

-ATS exhaust manifold

-Fluidampr- tamed my DD. Awesome product

-PML diff covers

-H2 Wheels-wish the truck came looking like that stock

-SBC Con OFE- One killer single disc! Super smooth, takes abuse, no slip. Plus you can back a trailer with it!

-TST w/ R49 remote- The best plug-in module on the market. Period.

-Smarty- The best downloader. No question.

-TS Performance MP-8- The best pressure box. I've tried most of them, and I choose to vouch for this one. Infinite adjustability is the bomb!

-Edge EZ- If you're looking for a safe 50 hp only, they're a great choice.

-Brite box with Fogzilla- Works great on rural roads at night!

My $ . 02 (plus a few grand) :-laf

WOULD NOT:

Westach dual guage. Hardly worked and no way to attach boost tube other than zip tie

Line-x or any other spray in bedliner

Retrax cover- works good but i lose to much bed space and it is not easily removable

WOULD:

Carli starter system

Buckstop Bumpers

Amp power steps

EZ Down

Would do a dual disc clutch instead of OFE But I would go back to an auto next time anyways.

Probably go with a small set of twins,

Two turbos and two clutch disc's!

Other than that no complaints whatsoever.

would not do again:

Rhinoliner - I've got Line-X in my other vehicle and it holds up much better

Mopar Tie-Down Hide-A-Hooks -- too fiddly and too weak

Mopar Remote Start - Lousy option for a diesel, bad range, and 45 second wait to start after you push the button

Would do differently:

If I had had the money, I would rather have gone straight to a fully built Allison transmission swap, rather than just the TC & VB on the stock transmission

Would do again:

Everything else in my signature. I especially love the Brite Box, EZ Lift, GDP Fuel kit with 2 micron filter, Caltracs & the Hot Juice

Do again in the following basic order:

-Optix gauges

-cam

-Smarty

-VA C3. 1 pressure box

-TST R49

-twin turbo, specifially towing twins like BD or equivalent sized

-injectors

-DD clutch

-modded CP3

-Banks intercooler - works for me, but is a "soft sell"

Not do again:

-big, honed injectors

-big, laggy, surgy turbos

-aggressive pressure box

-Banks High Ram intake that came with Intercooler kit. Takes up valuable space and is attached with bolts that go through the intake and are sealed with rubber washers. Can you say, "boost leak waiting to happen?"

Wish list:

-VA C3. 1 = best pressure box I've ever run: smooth and aggressive low end, but rail pressure friendly on top end.

-big dry air filter for twins instead of being resigned to oiled filters. I'm going to be trying out a big AMSOIL ea 4510 nanofiber shortly

-smaller injectors

I am planning on getting one of the new silent Fass and would like to know if anyone else is having the problem with truck running out of fuel at 1/4 tank?

For sure would not do again:

-terra grapplers (not load "E"")

-HPFP from DPP , maybe a full FASS, but not the pump only

-AFE intake -- alot of $$$ for a system that I ended up replacing the filter anyway

WILL FOR SURE DO AGAIN IF I had another truck:

-TST / no brainer, would never give it up!

-CON OFE / Has held all I have thrown at it, starting to slip, but thats expected when you exceed the rating by 100+HP

-Walbro 392 / Simple, small, quiet, and flow SICK amount of fuel.

-FLux injectors, BEST DARN MOD I EVER DID - smoothed out the tst big time!

-Floor it CP3 / made the midrange nice and punchy

And ohh yeah, rubber slush floor mats :D

After having a heavy bombed 02, and now my 06 with just an XZT

I would not add much horsepower, it gets very expensive very quick.

I don't miss the constant worrying about the next thing to let go, or if it's running 100%.

I would like to try a better cam.

I would add differential covers, exhaust brake, air bags, anything that helps me enjoy the truck do what I bought it to do in the first place.

Can you stack the Smarty and the TST?

Or did you run them seperately

Would Not:

1. Rokktech sensor--gave me nothing at all

2. TAG III- I like it, but the only thing it really gives me is a smoother turbo, not worth the money. Maye it'll help extend my turbo life, but how's a guy to test that.

3. Oil type air filter. After I installed my X-intake I found all the BHAF's out there. Nothing against the X-intake, but why run an oiled filter when those BHAF's just look so impressive.

Would Do Again;

1. Edge Juice w/ Attitude. I sold mine and I'm currently trying to get another one. Stupid decision to sell it.

2. Mag rear diff cover. Any cover with a drain plug and dipstick is worth it. Mag looks awesome too.

3. 19. 5" rims/tires. Unbelievable wear. Spendy, but if you're a heavy hauler, they're worth it. Mine are steel.

4. Open up the exhaust. Whether you go with a straight pipe or muffler of some sort, it makes driving soooo much more fun. Just find a sound level you can live with.

5. Visor. Looks and functionality all in one

6. Carpeted dash cover

7. husky floor liner

8. Gauges gauges and more gauges. I have three on the dash (boost, EGT, fuel) plus what there was on the attitude. I like analog gauges. The more the merrier. I'll never fly an airplane, but I can pretend.

EDIT: 9. How could I forget to mention my exhaust brake??? I had one on my '01 and I'll never drive without one again. I like the BD better than the Jacob's, but any exhaust brake is better than none.
