As requested, here we are! This photo is the three of us with the new rigs. FH is behind me in front of his new 3500 Limited, and C. Carpenter is on our left next to the Patriot Blue 3500 Longhorn. We special-ordered both trucks in early September, just picked them up last week from the Michigan dealer, drove back to Dallas.

We are standing in front of our new home that the 3 of us are building. I am the principal architect and builder, C. Carpenter is our principal carpenter, and FH fills in all the gaps in between, keeps us fed, keeps us rolling. I am the #2 carpenter also, very fortunate to apprentice under C. Carpenter to hone my carpentry skills while we are building. We are all together 4 years in total, now in the final months of the finishing phase.

You can see today's work--I built these Doug Fir window casings, and nailed them on by hand today with my titanium Stiletto trim hammer. No, Ground Squirrel, this is not photo-shopped. Who does this anymore? We do! We are really proud of our build. I wanted to treat my two favorite guys to something really special, so here it is. Happy as clams, I tell you what.

Wow, cool project, did that Doug fir cost about as much as those trucks? We are building our house ground up too, bought 5 acres of raw land in 1981, its coming along great, should be done pretty soon. My Dad was in the lumber business and got us a truckload of clear Larch from Libby, Mt. sawmill to mill into trim. So inexpensive back in the day!

Very cool! I don't know anything about SIPS construction but it sounds strong and energy efficient. Kind of getting away from the truck topic, maybe start another thread, maybe other owner-builders would be interested. Love seeing high level craftsmanship.

Thank you. We are working hard at it. C. Carpenter and FH set the clock every morning with the remote start at 0630, preheating the seats and steering wheel. Loving that. Hauled a little bit of material a few days ago in the Longhorn.

I am impressed, 35 year career as a Finish Carpenter and I consider myself a perfectionist and do appreciate the neck killing work shown. I did an entire 40'x40' foyer ceiling with eight skylights that were also wrapped with 3/8" thick by 3-1/4" T&G clear rough sawn Cedar. I did this as an Apprentice. Let's say my neck was messed up.

20 skylights in this home (trimmed by C. Carpenter), 77 windows and 35 doors, all casings trimmed in DF or sapele by yours truly, nailed by hand with my 10 oz Stiletto trim hammer. Carpentry is the Cats Pajamas! Hard work, but very rewarding. I bought lovely veg tanned leather key cases for FH and C. Carpenter. They arrived today. I left C. Carpenter's key case on his seat for him to find in the morning. It is fun to spoil him. He came to us in a Tradesman 6.4 HEMI, but will leave in the same luxurious style he is helping me create in our home, if all goes to plan.
