installing reese 5th wheel rails

Is 15 gallons worth $600 (or more)?

Any comments on the Montana trailer?RVConsumer Group doesn't rate them too high.
Wondering if anyone has any input.
TIA

I looked at them before I purchased--nice looking unit for the price. I was warned that they are much heavier than the sticker says. I would weigh before buying. Spoke to the service department at a large dealer that sold Montana and Alpenscape/Holiday Rambler. He had little to say about the Montana but talked alot about the quality of the Rambler product.

We bought a new Montana model 2880 triple slider last month. It is actually 30'-5" long. We have had it out three times and love it. It pulls great. The quality and workmanship seems to be very good. The only problem I have had was a faulty water heater thermostat. I love the trailer. Make sure you get 16" wheels. I had 15's on my last trailer (30' Savanna) and I blew tires constantly.

Not sure how much this is worth, but I've come across quite a few who own or have owned a Montana.

No-one spoke badly of it.
Quite a few thought is was a good unit. Most had some sorta problem.

Ranging from roof leaks to faulty components.

Seem like a decent (IMO), but I think dollar for dollar, better units exist.

Fuzz- did you buy the trailer? I was at the RV show in Denver last week looking at many RVs. True the Montanas only rate 1 or 2 stars depending upon model in the current RVrating book. One of the questions you need to ask is if they are moving up or down in ratings. I have been trying to figure out which RV to get and after a year of looking I am close to deciding on the Artic Fox as the rig that best meets my needs- backroads use. Another one that caught my eye abit is the Kodiak. But I have a number of questions on it- the dealer is down in the Springs.

I have had my Artic Fox out this winter in 0 to +10*. no freeze ups. when I was plugged in I would run the furnace to 75* then set it to 60 as back up ( never needed it )and have a little WalMart 1500w elec heater $20 and it will maintain 75*. They are heavier than most but high quality ridged frame, well insulated quality unit. They also come well equiped with standard features that are options or not available on other comperably priced units. They have good ground clearance for off road and did not have to flip axles for level towing with my 4X. I have put 9k mi on it since last June.

Thats great to hear about the cool weather ability of the Artic Fox. I will be parking mine somewhere in Utah for the Olympics next winter. Now I'm down to deciding on the 27. 5 or 29. 5E 5th wheel. Based on my measurements of the 2500 4X4 that should be here in less than 10 days I will have the axles flipped at the factory when they build it. No doubt about it, the Artic Fox is built tough!

We purchased a Montana 3670 triple slide yesterday and pick it up this Saturday. We spent a lot of weekends looking and talking to several owners about the product. Everyone I talked to had nothing but praise. The line is only 3 years old so the first ones out likely had some issues contributing to some low scores. The appliances are pretty much the same across the board. The fit and finish seems very nice. The RV websites are very favorable on this product. They have surpassed Cardinal for the leader in the class. Holiday Ramblers are also very nice, but HEAVY. It sure is a lot of trailer for the money. I traded in a 30'Dutchmen so obviously I am a little excited... . CJ
