Competition Edge Wolverine Truck

Competition Truck pull July 7th Galax, VA

Thats a lot of carnage. Whos stuff was it? I know we are running a transmission in a dragster that was there. ;)

Fishing a bit, are you? Not to start a transmission war..... But... .

The facts are: The turbos were BW, the converter was a ATS, the Trans Clutch hub was ATI pro mod stuff... .

First Converter failure in 250 runs. First Turbo failure in 100 runs. The Powerglide is all ATI, TSI, and other promod stuff, and we break the "unbreakable". We have been getting 2 passes on the best input shafts. Have a new one that looks great after 3 runs.

Trust me, once John's dragster gets hooked up, parts will start failing... . He is running a 47RE like ours, with ATS parts in it as well. The main trans may be BD, but I think the rear coupler, torque converter, and other parts are ATS. Our 47RE ATS trans never failed. Just wanted the lighter weight and lower rotating mass..... May be a mistake on my part.

Blacksheep I saw your rig run, that is a lot of rig to get rolling.

I tried to catch you at your rig but you were not there the couple times I walked by.

I really broke out bad also on the first bracket run I ran 1. 1 seconds faster than I had all day. I would have probably lost anyway. the kid I ran against hit his zero time within . 05 sec. and had a . 005 reaction time.

G&J's mustang load dyno was not forgiving at all either. Everyone there saw 50-70 hp less than they are all used to seeing. They loaded the heck out of the rigs. They claimed they may not have had it calibrated exactly right either.

It is quite the Beast! I'd probably gain a second or two if I pulled the bumpers off. :-laf. Being a six-speed I thought the truck did well against the automatic trucks that were there. I didn't stick around the truck too much had to keep moving so the mosquitos wouldn't eat me alive.

I wasnt fishing, just asking a question. Wars here never get anything done, just was wondering what combination you were running. I was pretty sure you hadnt used the ATS transmission in a while. I have always been very impressed with what your combination has run and was wondering what was getting you there. I love drag racing. I tune a high 9 second turbo 56 beetle and am always interested in what people use to get their rigs to perform. Breaking parts is all part of racing. When you are running a setup that is much different than what has been used before there is going to be a learing curve. Trust me on that.

If I was looking to bash a competitors product I would have just said "ha ha our transmission didnt break. " Maybe I should have the supporting vendor tag taken off so I dont offend any one when I ask a question.

Sorry for the snappy response. And thanks for the compliments. We have tried hard to pioneer this combination, and gave a lot of advice to John when he was building his car to save him some grief. I had a long talk with Dan Scheid about his trans and clutch setup, and we compared the thinning wallets we have in trying the untried.

Many people have suggested different transmission combinations, and we have ran 3 different ones, a Powerglide, a 727, a 47RE, and now back to the glide. I think a Bruno / Lenco is a good combo, but has its issues.

We have a new converter in the car now that should not really work. Watch it prove me wrong and actually work. Testing this week,.....
