I am looking at installing new upper & lower balljoints and have been considering the Moog K7460 uppers and K7467 lowers. Are either of these joints adjustable? Are either of them offset? I don't have any alignment issues and was hoping to install joints that were non adjustable with no offset. Thanks. My truck is a 2003 SRW 3500 4x4 6spd.

Moogs are junk

I went with the Carli HD (lifetime) uppers and Moog lowers. After about 2,000 miles and going off road once for about 40 miles (no air time) the lowers have . 016" play on the drivers side and . 030" on the passenger side. Don't waste your money on Moogs.

Edit 5-4-09:

I put new O. E. ball joints in the lowers and still had some knocking on bumps so I measured play per the factory service manual procedure and with only 4 days I have . 027" play on the drivers side and . 023" on the passenger side. Factory spec allows up . 090" play (I mistook it to mean . 009", my bad) so it turns out the Moogs weren't junk after all. I traced the knocking down to a loose jam nut on the adjustable Pan-rod/Trac bar.

BTW, There is a lot less preload on the OE ball joints and the steering feels better as a result. (Brand new tight joints will give a vehicle handling quirks)

The Moog K7467 and K7460 are no offset. Picture of them in this thread... .

I realize the Woodchuck is having issues with his already. I have only put 500 miles on my truck since I replaced them. I will check them after a couple of trips towing the fifth-wheel and let you know how they are doing. They looked to be a quality piece and the fact that both the upper and lower joints can be greased easily influenced my decision to use them. If they turn out to be a P. O. S. then lesson learned. I do think Moog will stand behind the product if an issue does exist. Time will tell.

I have over 1k on my new Moogs, and it went through state inspection just fine... they had zero play during inspection.

but I also put 180k on OE balljoints and only one was worn to a point of being questionable for inspection... so I might not be a good reference.

I have 2 brand new never-touched Moog 7448's for sale in the classifieds. They're the upper adjustable models for 4wd.

Nothing wrong with them, I simply don't need them.
