When I pulled up the EMF's I didn't realize they gave me Canadian prices LOL!
That made them much closer in price!
So yes, the Dynatracs are considerably more expensive and I will have to give them some more consideration.
Still, I don't ever want to do this job again.

By the way, if you can wait, Dynatrac has sales at times for 10% off. They tend to do so around holidays.

Just today, I have a problem with a Moog hub bearing. The bottom graph is the erratic wheel speed from that new bearing/sensor. We’re getting another one.

So I looked at EMF ball joints and like the price but do they come already adjusted or do I have to adjust them? I looked at a video about adjusting I just don't know if I can adjust them the right way or if I have too is it easy to know when they are too loose or too tight?

They come adjusted but can be re adjusted over time if they loosen up, I know alot of people who have put some real hard miles on them and very rare they need adjustment and have never seen one need to be replaced, just adjusted but still rare .

I'm getting a little pissed off now. I beleive I had Moog installed by Burlington Automotive after I was "convinced" that "they" are not seeing Carli last any longer than Moog and the Xtra $$ was not worth it. Since I cannot find my emailed invoice I am going to call in the AM and find out. At 413,000 miles & 15 YO, I forget how many sets but safe to assume, this was the forth one assuming every 100K.

Update. XRF was a huge wast of money. I can’t even get them to reply or answer the phone to collect on the Million Mile warranty. I just installed a set of EMF’s really nice construction. I never want to do that job again! I hope that they hold up as well as the Carli units I had put in my 05. Time will tell. Thanks again to the staff at EMF for getting them sent out fast.

Have used a couple sets of XRF joints now, them seem to be holding up well. DO NOT overgrease! Give em a 1 shot and walk away.

I had greased them every oil change. One or two shots . They were good until they weren’t. When they started to fail they went fast. Both lowers while they felt good in the truck once removed you could tell they were pounded out. Bearing gone. XRF has yet to reply to both my emails or my phone calls. So much for their million mile warranty. Factory set lasted 68k miles the XRF set failed at 45k.

The best Ball joints for the price are EMF , they dont have knurled bodies that ruin the axle bores like XRF, are rebuild able should the need arise and surprisingly affordable.
Is the cost due to the weaker Canadian dollar? I agree with others, save up for a better balljoint. Not a fun job at all.

I dont know why they are cheaper but suspect the weaker Canadian dollar and that EMF is a small shop with lower overhead then many of the other companies so that may be a factor.

They weren’t all that much cheaper. They just had a set in stock. Carli’s are almost always backordered. So far I’m happy with them. They feel tight no play but no binding. The EMF units that is. Almost 3k miles on them.

$510 vs $800 seems like a pretty big difference.....

With shipping they ran me $808 I needed them yesterday. Truck was un drive able when the XRF units failed. Hit a small expansion joint at speed above 45 and the death wobble would hit an hit hard. Now after replacing everything I can hit a nasty pothole at 75 and the truck doesn’t even flinch .

I'd like to see an answer to this question as well. The video they show is kinda cheasy to me. Having to pound on the threaded stud and then setting them by feel doesn't leave me warm and fuzzy.
How bad are these adjustments and can they be done again later without any disassembly?

Thanks,
Scott

They do not need to be adjusted upon install only if they wear and adjustment is needed, can be adjusted without pulling the knuckle, only the tie rod so you can feel the tension and make sure its not too tight.

I know alot of people running them but dont know of any that have ever needed to be adjusted.

Thanks for clearing that up Sir!
Now if they can just get production ramped up.
