So last week I broke my leadwire and crimped on a new ring connector as instructed by you guys. I was getting really low readings like 350 @ 70 mph and 300 @ stop lights. I decided to go ahead a replace the leadwire and the termocouple. I did that and this morning I was getting ok readings (525 @70 mph, 600 when I gassed on it for a sec). This afternoon though, I was getting 425 @ 700. All my connections are tight so my last resort is to replace the gauge. Anyone have a better idea?

What brand guage are you using? This same thing happened to my ISSPRO guage a few months back. I wasn't in the mood to diagnose it, so I ripped out all the ISSPRO stuff and went to SPA. No problems since.

Try re crimping all the ring terminals onto the wiring, since these gauges work on milivolts you only need a small amount or resistance to cause problems. Have tried to email you 4 times even a reply bounces back, get adress has perminant fatal errors and return address refused. Please send your phone number and I will call you tonight.

Rob-
I have all Isspro stuff. I've heard other people complain about their stuff but SPA is just pricey. Of course 2 new Isspro EGT kits = 1 SPA.
I'm going to call DIS and see if they might help.

ISSPRO? Toss em! AutoMeter is the way to
go. I have over 20,000 miles on my 2k1 3500
with no problems whatsoever with the gauges.
There are other brands as well, I'm just
giving you a recommendation here.

Go with the best, get Autometer. Dont waste your time with these small companies that have no r&d budget. NASCAR, NHRA, IHRA, IHBA and all the biggest racing teams use them for a reason, because they work and they would not risk literally millions of dollars in prize money and engines with second rate gauges. I have used Autometer for well over a decade and had only one failure, and that was a lightbulb. I have already swapped out 2 sets or ISSPRO gauges on 2 other trucks. You will be saving money in the long run.

Perhaps Isspro isn't the way to go, but I've already dropped nearly $200 into this EGT and I bought it from a great dealer, (DIS), so I think I can work something out. Perhaps credit towards an AutoMeter set?

I would be nice if it worked the first time though.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend Autometer at all. Yeah their gauges are supposedly good. . and their service has been great to me. But with 5000 miles on my gauges, I am awaiting my 3rd EGT gauge. As I was talking to their service department they told me that they just developed a newly designed EGT gauge because of how the old ones are flakey. So we'll see how it works when they send it to me.

Azcummins - As you stated. . I also have some good money rapped up in my gauges, but as soon as I get some spare cash laying around I'm throwing my autometers in the trash and either getting SPA or VDO (pending on them getting a bigger boost gauge).

Just my $. 02

If its under a year old, call isspro direct (look up the number at isspro.com). They are more then willing to help, in fact even if its over a year, I would call them anyway.

Called DIS this AM and they were as flustered about it as I was so they are sending me a new gauge head. Hopefully it works!

I put in autometer sport comps(egt & boost) on the pillar. They respond as fast as a tachometer does, no problems here. I did a big search before deciding to buy what I did, no regrets here. Mine are like those ChrisN5CWM has(nice picture Chris). My two-cents worth.

Same here. Chris sent me a .jpg of his late last summer. They look and work great. Gauges should be the first modification made. I highly recommend the Autometer Sport Comps.

Mark, I'm on my second Isspro EGT gauge, and it is erratic, too. I need to call Brent at DIS, and get a new one, again.
I'll eventually switch it to the SPA, again, when I have the funds to do it. This one is pricey. The SPA transmission temp/pressure is working flawless. I didn't think I'd like the display, but it grows on you.
Give me a call, we need to hook up before you move on.

Had problems with ISSPRO on my '94. Several repacements over 2 years, aircraft mechanic suggested soldering ring connector to wire, where wires bolted together, this solved the problem for six months. Then found same problem at gauge end, soldered it and put a layer of solder on ring as well. Another 175,000 miles and no more problems. Seems temp variations cause crimp to loosen up giving false (low)reading. Hope this helps, Good luck!

I had Isspro gauges on my 95 not one problem with how they worked only the lighting, one gauge was not as bright.

My 2001. 5 I chose the AutoMeter Pro Comp:
Pyro Gauge fogs,
Boost gauge needle vibrates above 10psi.
Called DIS, he called AutoMeter. There reply was they have had them fog, but rare. They reccomended checking all fittings. I went through all and still have a vibrating gauge.
Do to my experience with Isspro I may go to the new Enhanced Visibility gauge.

DIS is the people to do mail order with #ad
