I'm not new to TDR, Long time reader of Forurm. First time to start a thread. Anyway, my question is (as with most people) is about fuel milage. I drive about 45 to 50,000 miles per year. I'm considering installing a Gear Venders Under/Over drive. They claim a 20% increse in fuel milage and a 500 decrese in RPM at HWY speeds ( 70 to 75 MPH). Does anyone have any experience using this equipment? At the cost of about $4,000. 00 I don't want to rely only on the info received from G/V. At the milage I run per year and a milage allowance I receive the pay-back would be less than 1 year if it works as advertized. I'm looking for real world info not the pie in the sky BS usually spewed by the vendor.

Thanks for any info from anyone.

Tell us about your truck. If you have a truck with the G56 transmission, you could definately see a milage improvement on the highway at 70-75. If you have an automatic with 3. 73 rear gears I don't think you would see as dramatic an improvement.

Every truck is different, I think you could gain 4mpg with a GV on the G56 truck. I seriously doubt you could with the 3. 73 auto truck, more like 1-2mpg.

As a gear vendor dealer... I'm going to say that if you see 5-6% that's great... I don't agree with some of there stuff... BHolm has some good points... .

You'll see I own several trucks and some are very high mileage trucks... I'd jump in an instant for 20%...

I had a GV U/O on my '01 for awhile. It was great to play with and it really increased my top end abilities. I loved cruising in Montana w/ no speed limit. It was also fun in the Nevada deserts. But I did not see and increase in mpg. Only in the top speed. I still got the same mpg at a higher top speed though.

Thanks guys you have confirmed what I expected. The old saying what is, if it's to good to be true it probably is. As with most of the claimes of all of the vendors.

You know what I mean, adding equipment with there claims of 1 or 2% by adding a W/CA-intake, 2 or 3%, W/a tuner, 3 or 4% W/a intake manafold and adding the GV overdrive another 20%. If I continue to add equipment the truck will start making it's own fuel. (Problem solved right LOL) Why cant they give us real world info. insted of all the BS on milage because I would have bought the equipment anyway for the additional power.

Anyway thanks for the info before I spent the $4,000. 00 on the OD.

If I continue to add equipment the truck will start making it's own fuel. .

Only some nuclear power plants do that, the kind that our department of energy does not allow, and the Russians, French, and everyone else is using.

The pretext is that it would produce plutonium, which can be used to make nukes. It can also be used to make the kind of batteries that satellites use. How would it sound to you to have a battery that constantly generates power, and even after 50 years, it may be down by 50 %, but it keeps producing?

A plutonium battery pack could power your vehicle, and when you get home, you plug it in to power your house, A/C, and heat and all!

France has installed needless lights on deserted rural roads, to use up the surplus nuclear electricity when people turn off their lights and appliances.
