About the Torque-to-Yield Damper Bolts..

The bearings as well as all internal parts where in great shape! I had no cylinder bore taper and still had cross hatches like a new motor. Not bad at all for 168K miles and being over 400 HP for a couple of years. Even at my power level this mighty cummins would have gone 500K. I am even more sold on the AmsOil also. It was supper clean for a motor that ran oil for as long as 65K w/ just filter changes!! :D

The turbo never saw over 1400 deg on my truck.

559 HP with a single any guesses on what she'll be after I'm done?

I'm going to break in with the same fueling mods as it had when it went and then I'll add some more fuel...

drawson, it’s most interesting that the thrust side of your rod bearing is in such good shape. After 165k the thrust side of mine were worn down to the brass! I've used Amsoil 5/30 since 12k. Guess that's what advanced timing will do for you.

Looks like I need to increase my fee a bit so I work faster. LOL

Yep Gary we will have to go get him if he doesn't show.

Work faster... I don't think that would be humanly possible dude. You don't even let us stop for donuts man!

All kidding aside and all things considered we moved pretty quick. 7 weeks I think it was and a good portion of that time was waiting for machining.

I'm going to give it a shot, I get the block back from the machine shop tomorrow afternoon and have some time this weekend to get a good start on getting her together. But I want it perfect not done fast. I am still lacking the clutchs and the copper head gasket.

5w-30 might be too light which would explain the wear. my truck has 5w-40 i have not yet opened it up i want at least another 250k before i really wanna see inside that engine. however none of my oil samples have ever had high wear metals in them so im sure its doing its job. the cold weight of your oil i think is fine even in warm temps a 5w oil is good for that first start of the day. 30w is too light though i think for a diesel especially when its tuned up some. take some oil samples with the current oil and then switch to a 5 or 15w-40 and see if the wear metal levels change.

The turbo looks like it could just a little bit of JB weld and a little Grinding at it would be JUST FINE. looks pretty ugly to me hope you can salvage something from the motor
