E-brake breaking ISB?

It's time for a torque plate. With my 95 auto, should I go with a 230hp or a 280hp plate. For now the transmission is going to stay stock. When the transmission starts to have problems I am going to get a torque converter and give it a total high performance rebuild. A transmission shop that has done some good work for me in the past said he could get Raybestos clutches that were heavy duty enough for the stout diesel. What do ya'll think? Any and all input is appreciated.

95 3/4 ton, auto, no muffler, empty cat, scotty air, clarion cd, trailer rigged etc. (Just traded my 91 for this one so I don't have all the goodies yet. )

77 Scout Traveller, 345, holley 4bbl, 6' lift, lots of rust etc. (I just kept it because it's got a Mopar transmission in it. ) I am in the process of rebuilding the body now.

I would stick with the 230 kit, which is what others recommend for the auto equipted trucks. That is what I will go for when I am ready to upgrade. My . 02 cents

Howdy, CHACE---there's a pile of goodies, all pretty much intended for simultaneous install,(like a "system") from BD that are supposed to make the '47 OK up to and including 325HP/700lb-ft. A buddy of mine had their shift-kit installed, along w/ new injectors,4" exhaust and a cam-plate. the therapist estimated output at 325/700. I gave that truck a test "feel" when his wife made him put a "for sale" ad in(my big ol' tires+wheels were his)... shifts were smooth, but firm, with no hint of slippage where "lock" should have happened... . since his install, they've also developed another product (could be used as a standalone) called the Pressure-Lock that is supposed to preserve, rather than replace, the stock TC. --maybe your transmission guy deals with BD, or maybe another aftermarket company assembles a total package similar... . as for longevity, I don't have the foggiest idea, as Kurt's truck was sold within 5 months of all the BOMBing----rich

ps. bummer about the bonfire accident

Chance,
TST will let you exchange the 230 for the 255Hp if you arent happy with the 230 plate. I put in the shift kit a couple of months ago and and the 255 plate last night, havent even gotten to road test it yet, but will today. will let you know what i think about it latter.

I have the 230 plate and I think that puts me on the raggedy edge with my auto. I wouldn't push it further with the stock trans ... . SO ... . right now my trans is 1/2 way out of the truck to get the new BD Valve Body and Torque Converter installed. Since my truck won't fit in the garage, I had to get it done before the snow flies. I got it about 1/2 way out yesterday, but the 32F temps and the 20 mph winds drove me back inside. Once I get these in, I will be installing the BD exhaust brake, TorqLoc and PressueLoc. These of course are for the product reviews and to gain a higher level of standing in BOMB.

Rob, sounds like your getting a bit weak to not endure a lil chilled breeze to work on your beloved RAM. A true BOMBer would've stayed out there and completed it... through rain, snow or sleet. #ad

rich m,
Thanks for the sympathy on the bonfire accident. The death toll is up to 12 now, and there are still kids in the hospital. My girlfriend graduated from A&M, while I graduated from Texas Tech. It has been sad around here since Thursday.
Back to the upgrades. I am going with the BD torque converter when I do the transmission upgrades. As far as the other stuff, I am trying to keep costs down. The guy that is going to build my transmission is really good with race transmissions, and he seemed to know these Dodge autos real well. He said the trans-go is a good shift kit and the heavy duty clutches and bands will really make a difference and hold up well. I would get the whole BD kit but I think they are a little pricey and if I have problems they are a long ways off. If this guy screws something up he can fix it, and I wont have to.

Chace,
My first day with the TST 255HP plate, first of all our 95 rams were stock with 160HP, so its a lot of additional HP. 70 with the 230, 95 with the 255. I was going 45 MPH on a damp raod, pushed the throttle a little to hard, both back wheels came Loose. Did not get a chance to put the stop watch on it yet, but can really tell a difference in the power.

I have gone from the banks ottomind plate up to the 280hp TST plate and now the 330 plate, and each step was very noticeable. I really do like the present one!!!!!! I would suggest doing the repairs and upgrades to you transmission before increasing the power. Always better to have a solid platform to work from before making changes. Upping the power and breaking something will only put a damper on the fun.
