Mark, I am working on that too, I want them black though, nobody will make them in black chrome because there is a clear lacquer applied at the end of the process and it won't hold the heat. I have been talking to a local well known muffler shop however and he say's he has a contact that can do it in black. supposedly they do the black portion and then put them in a tumbler with what looks like packing peanuts and that rubs a real nice looking shine on them with out the lacquer. who knows I will be working on it though.

An amazing motor. Thanks for posting the pictures- they are fascinating. We are really fortunate to have such professional, skilled individuals out there making parts for and modifying our beloved Cummins engines.

Now, I know its rude and you don`t have to answer, but , ballpark, how much did the engine set you back, BBD? I`m sure a second mortgage on my house will soon be necessary!

What about powder coating?

First off BBD, I want to thank you for the inspiration to convert my truck over to oil burner - it was that mini-feature I saw in one of the mags (Four Wheeler?) on your truck and that crew cab power stroke right before my V10 blew at 38K miles... I "finished" the install about 3 days ago and couldn't be happier with my decision. Can't wait to start bombing!

Anyway, have you thought about powder coating your stacks gloss black? I've had a bunch of stuff on my truck and (lawn) tractor 'coated and it seems to hold up really well regardless of temperature or solvent, and you almost never have to clean or polish it... Just a thought.
