I just finished installing a 2000 block in my 1998. 5. I switched in my computer and wiring harness and now I am getting a 1698 code. I have only had the tryck idling but when it sets the code the tack stops working and the motor stubbles. THe new block had a cps under the injection pump like my 1998 but it is obviously not working properly. Is there another location on the 2000 block or is my cps bad?

2000 model year is kind of a crossover year... .

Definitely something to do with the cps or cam sensor... .

The 98 has a crank sensor but some of the 00's didnt have the crank sensor.

Justin,

Both motor have both sensors. The one behind the injector pump and the one above the starter. Does that mean they are picking up the signal the same?

Thanks

P1698 No CCD/J1850 Message From TCM No CCD/J1850 messages received from the electronictransmission control module (EATX) or the Aisintransmission controller.

P1698 No CCD Messages received from PCM Bus communication failure to PCM. A 9Companion DTC9was set in both the ECM and PCM.

That's what I was just fixing to post.

It sounds to me like the transmission isn't talking right. I also noticed during some searching that people were also experiencing some failures in the gauge cluster like you when they get these codes.

Cam and crank sensors can be different between the engines. This would affect the sensor level that your 98. 5 ECM expects.

Cummins can tell by the serial numbes if the sensors are different between the two engines.

These guys my also be able to reference the sensors for you also. May be quicker then explaning to cummins what you are doing.
