Wondering if there is anybody clever out there to find some place to put this thing?? Only spot is under Batery near air filter (fender well). Any body that made a bracket or something to relocate it?? Don't want to make to much of a mess... .

I made my own bracket over the right battery. Perform a search of this topic and you'll find a lot of information on this topic. I believe someone is making and selling brackets. I don't recall who.

John at jvssyn@rcn.com makes a nice filter mount that fits around the right battery. This is what I used on mine and it worked out very nice. My problem is the noise coming from the oil pump. If I cant get it to quite down I will be removeing the bypass system. see my post in the Product form. it was on 2/7/01

ND, read my posting I did on 5/3/2001. I think this is clearly the best location, out of the way yet very protected and accessible.

there are two things you need.

first get cpff's (john strenkowski... on this list) filter engine block adaptor. the one that comes with the amsoil kit is garbage. it is billet and won't leak. it's a beauty as well.

cpff also makes a battery tray/mount for the filter mount.

do a search under cpff. if you can't find it e-m me and i will send you his e-m address.

bill kollmer makes a battery bracket/filter mount that looks pretty nifty his link is http://sites.netscape.net/remotebracket. homepage

Ditto on "CPFF"S adaptor and battery mount. They are both beautifully finished, super welll made and will most definatley outlast your truck. The black finish on the battery mount is nicer then the paint on my truck, smooth as glass. I have his stuff plus Aeroquip Braided lines with nickel plated aluminum swivel fittings.

I now also have made to the correct length, braided ss/teflon lines with swaged on ends.
With the three pieces (billet adaptor - batt. mount - ss/hoses)it makes a easy, quick and neat leak-free installation.

If you use SS braid lines ANYWHERE in your Ram make sure they are well secured with P-clips. If you do not isolate them, anything in contact will get the abrasive treatment.

My 2¢ on this.

I mounted my bypass filter a little bit further back. It's an Oilguard, but mounted it to the driver side frame rail just behind the transmission. It's on the inside of the frame rail, so it's not noticable looking at the truck. It took about 25 feet of hose though, so this may not be the ideal setup, but I am happy with it. Had to make a special bracket to bolt it on with, so wouldnt have to drill any holes in the frame. There is an opening in the inside of the rail, and can make a bracket with some bar stock bent for one end to go inside the pocket and bolt to the other side of the rail, and the other end bolts at the inside of the rail, and the metal extends a bit further. Welded a piece of angle iron to this, to raise the filter a little higher. A little primer and paint and install, it doesnt look bad. I put a miniature ball valve in this line near the hookup to the pressure side. Had to add 1 1/2 qts of oil to make up for the volume in the filter can. Just another idea. . I posted in a separate article how to modify a factory oil cap with an amsoil adapter, to make a neat looking install, if this is of any help.
