2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Mounting Whelen light bar on 99 QC Help

Looking to mount my whelen Edge 9000 on my 99 DRW 3500 QC

Factory says strap kit 25 but those straps hit the tops of the doors preventing them from closing unless I bend the tops of the doors out!

Th eagle looks right but There's got to be a better way! Anyone mount and whelen bars on your Quad cabs?

Thanks for any advice. I'll be calling Whelen on Monday or whenever they re open after the holidays.

Ok. I find the back rack with a custom mount to be the best. I like those light bars. Really comes in handy. Mine is whelen as well but only goes rearwards like many road construction guys uses for traffic direction.

Yup- headache rack mount is the way to go- no damage to the cab & easy to swap to another truck when the time comes.

Thought about the backrack option but I already have way too much invested in this light bar project, also I have a cap That is on and off during the season and I don't think I could use the cap anymore with the rack on. I also tow a fifth wheel and it is already close enough to the cab without a rack mounted bar.

I was able to mount the bar using the whelen strap kit number 25. The issue was with the weatherstrip rail leaving almost no room to install a screw on the vertical section of the roof. I massaged the weather strip rail a little and just barely got them to work well together. I didn't feel bad putting 4 little screws in there with silicone on and around them as that area already has screws fastening the weatherstrip rail and without sealer.

Now I just need to choose a path for wires and finish the job. Too cold and too dark to finish today.

This is the diagnostic bar so I really only have to run the very small wire into cab but I think for a clean install I will be running both into the cab roof and then into the a or B pillar. wish I could cleanly keep that 2 conductor heavy cable out of the cab. that was one great advantage to a back rack I could have run the heavy cable right down the rack and along the frame to battery. Oh well each mount came with it's advantages and disadvantages. IT looks good on the truck and I am half way to being able to use it.
