Thanks, TDR Staff

Bush beer and Lynyrd Skynyrd ???

Ax Men

What do I need to know? Specifically, I think they have a truck inspection and probably emissions. Never had to deal with that in WYO so can someone help me out? Also, any TDR chapters out thataway? thanks in advance,

Jason

Jason have you lost your mind? I do know you have to sell your Weatherby cheap before you go--so I'm first in line!!

Thanks guys. Any info on TDR guys that way or any good shops? I've gone through 5 VP44s and just want to know where I may need to get towed. . ha ha.

DE has 3 times the population of Wyoming and is 89 times smaller... . I don't think the elk hunting is so good... .

I know I know, My future wife is finishing her medical residency there and then we will be back to the cowboy state! ~3 years... .

Selling a Weatherby... hhhmmmm Oo.

WY to DE, talk about an adjustment!

Best of Luck!

Good luck. I'm in the Air Force. I've been here for three years. I can't say I like it much. I'm originally from Utah, and was in Oklahoma before moving here. When are you going to be here? I'm moving to Texas soon, but would like to chat with ya if you're here before I leave. There is another member here that is in the AF. He lives in Milford, and has better connections than I do. I just haven't had the time to go to any chapter events or much else.

There is an inspection, but I avoid it with my other vehicles because they are registered in another state! My new truck has DE tags because I purchased it while being here. But, I made the dealer put that cost in the whole package.

Let me know when ya get here.

I was there for about three years... ablout all I could take. Below the C&D canal is a little nicer. I was there when they were building the rte? bypass. Known as the Metroform. Lots of great dual sport riding when that road was being built!

Soler - thanks for the input! By the way, That's an amazing plane you fly!! I'll be there mid Jan for good and some time over Thanksgiving.

Straight6 - I hope I can make it the 3 or so years there.

Any other suggestions, other than don't do it?!

Yeah, don't do it! Oh, wait, you said OTHER than that. :-laf

The cost of living is a little higher here, but there is no sales tax. That is nice, but I have found that there a very few places to get some of the stuff I need. Like diesel performance shops or Motorcycle shops. There are a few in NJ and PA, but who wants to drive there? And you have to pay sales tax there. So, DE isn't all that great. I think if there was a sales tax, there wouldn't be anything worth staying for.

Plus, I have to drive for hours to ride my bikes. No public trails in DE :(

On the plus side, the people here are a lot nicer compared to the rest of the East Coast. Not too nice, but better than the rest of the coast. I like the green here. I was out in OK before, and i really like how green it is out here.

If you're going to Newcastle County, you're gonna spend alot of time in your truck. Traffic is bad and getting worse. Delaware is the new corporate haven (due to tax laws). DuPont, Zeneca, H-P, MBNA and many, many others. The influx over the last 15 years has caused an urban sprawl that extends into Pennsylvania and Maryland. I grew up in SE PA and used to work in Wilmington. My commute was 12 miles and took anywhere from 35 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on time of day. I was back in Wilmington for a meeting this past Wednesday and traffic was definely worse ! And drivers definately more aggressive ! I'm spoiled now, working for the same Co. but relocated to SE NC. Gotta 4 mile commute and, depending on which way I go, I have either 1 or 2 stop signs along the way. Might see 2 other vehicles on the way and 1 will likely be a tractor.

The rural are I grew up in is no longer, replaced by golf courses and developments of $500K+ executive communities. Used to be a nice place.

little bill - yeah, I'll be in the Newark/Wilmington area. Right now my commute is about 3 minutes on my bike. Keeps the truck from crazy warm-up cool down cycle twice a day.

I am wondering if my 5 speed, T-Rex equipted truck is going to be more trouble than it is worth in the "First State"? Any opinions?

Thanks for everyone's info...

Yes, I most certainly agree it'll be more trouble than it's worth. You can just park it down here in SW VA. I'll surely keep an eye on it for you, keep it clean, take it out and race it about every week or two; it'll definitely be safe up here in the hills. No, that dense, congested area you're moving to is definitely no place for a fine, Cummins-powered Dodge.

Oh, yeah. You can store the Weatherby here, too. It won't get much use, but bear are known to wander past here during mating season and spring, and it's best to be prepared, in case one of 'em gets a little too ornery.

:D :D :D

fest3er - you are too kind. Who says east coasters are not friendly. Only problem would be if VP44 #6 happened. Ouch for you, I wouldn't want that. The weatherby is a bit kicky though - . 340 WBY Mag. It does more than push that 225 grain bullet. I think (can't remember now) I use 79 grains of RL19. I have confidence in this on anything in North America.

Seriously though, selling a 5 speed, T-Rex truck seems like it would be tougher in the East than in Good ole Wyo. Decisions decisions...

Thanks!

J

Jason never told us if he made it.

We're gonna miss ya at ATS this weekend!

Who's gonna help me with the bon fire on the south bound on ramp? :-laf

GiesJ. .

Hmmmm. .

Intense Blue and a TRex ride at that, bring her East and I know a guy who is looking for one that color,my son. I am certain he will find a place in his college driveway for that sweet looking ride. Let us know,LOL.

Look us up as there are alot of us out here in our chapter spread all the way from New England to North Carolina. We have a dyno/picnic thats coming up on April 30th and its listed in the Northeast events forum. I am only about a hour or so from Wilmington so drop a note when you arrive and we'll gather a group and do a BBQ or dinner meeting for you to meet some of us. Also,as for that Weatherby, don't loose that in the move as we have some long range ranges you can wring her out on and if you feeling froggy maybe I can get my buddy to drag you up north of me to try your hand out at the 1000yd benchrest range... ... ... ... Andy

Thanks Guys. I am here, in Delaware. A bit different. I don't know which way is North, SOuth, East or west with no mountains to reference. I am getting into the groove though.

Tim - I'm going to miss ATS, that was a blast and I always learned a bunch there.

Hammer - I work in WIlmington now, right next to the Delaware river off of 495. Would love to get together...

Here's what I have found out about DE - according to trivial pursuit - highest point of elevation is 60'. LOTS more traffic than I'm used too.

I think my truck to-do includes:

Exhaust brake and hook up Eaton Fuller switch

EDM 1. 5s

MAD ECM

Clearance lights

Maybe Oil bypass system...

Should keep me busy for a while... I'll probably need some help!

Thanks for checking on me,

Jason
