I'm from New York, and I had my truck "rust proofed" I had the underneath covered in like a rubberized undercoating, but still lets it breath.. I think.

I'm not 100% sure but something is better than nothing and I got it done before the truck was 2 years old and under 24k miles so they gave me a 10 year corrosion warranty.. That's what sold me on that package.

Interesting....how is that for working on the truck? Does the coating cover and stick to everything and anything? I've heard of the fluid film stuff, but this sounds different.

So far, so good. I'm pleased with it. They sprayed all door jams/hinges, insides doors, inside tailgate, under the hood on all hinges and everything. That is all of course a clear coat and the frame is black. I can compare it to a Ziebart, if anyone has heard of that. I went with this company because of the longer warranty and they said if I ever have to make an insurance claim there are places all over the US to do so.

The only downfall I can see with it is, that alot of dirt and debris stick to it. Especially under the hood, and door jams etc. Mainly because the truck is white so I see it all, but hey if it doesn't rust I can deal with a little bit of dirt. We didn't get any snow this year so I don't really have a thorough test.

Time will really tell here.

I'll take some pictures this weekend.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the advice.

I will be purchasing some type of beater 4wd truck for myself when I arrive there and the RAM will have to be my wife’s DD. Hopefully all turns out well or I will be trading it in when I’m done up there.

I will be putting it back to stock because I don’t want to deal with emissions if there is any in MA. Is there?

I do love my truck and will try some of the preventative coatings to see if it helps. Living in the west coast has some perks. Vehicles are pristine when driven year round.

As promised, here are some pics of the rustproofing on my truck. It looks a little dirty but that's because its white and needs a spring cleaning. I also prefer a little dirty over rust.

p a good deal when the opportunity is there. I also prefer it to look a little dirty over being rusty.
