I'm a manufacturers rep, and my territory is all of AZ plus So Nevada, so there are lots of mountains and wide open spaces.

Trip to Vegas from Phoenix via Lake Havasu got me 26.7mpg, at 5mph over the posted speed limits (70-80mph). Combined with three days of city stop and go, with plenty of sitting in the parking lot engine running while making calls or responding to email, I still got almost 25mpg. I think I'll be able to average over 24mpg.

I know the big cummins motors get better with breakin, but is there any real evidence that these small high efficiency engines will do the same?

Are we Talking 1500 Eco Diesel or Ram 2500 or 3500 ? There is No way in the World that a 2500 or even a 3500 get's 24 mpg Unless it's down hill with a 90 MPH Wind :)

Your reading this in the 1500 forum, so yes, a 1500, as you stated it correctly for a 25-3500.

Sag2 yes your right but alot of time people start posting about MPG they start talking about the last truck they had .

How about the Down hill, and 90MPH Wind, AND THE BEST RIGHT FOOT IN THE WORLD? could it be possible then? My right foot is VERY talented :-laf

I forgot to add that I use Super Slick motor oil and the Best fuel additive that mere mortals can not obtain, Its only for people with the Best right foot

Yeah, there is at least one of them in this forum.

I remember seeing an ad for a 2500 4x4 5.9 24v, and he was claiming 31mpg because he only used a 1/4 tank (via the gauge), went 200 miles and since his tank was 28gal (or some other such witchcraft math)...viola' 31mpg. Sheesh.

I'll have you know that I can walk and chew Bubble Gum at the same time? I can do it with ONE LEG!!!!!!! Go ahead TRY THAT!!!! :-laf

Since ya asked...the last truck I had was a 2000 F250 4x4 with the 7.3. 13-15mpg was the norm. I once got 17 but that was in Death Valley where the speed limit is 50mph. :D

My signature truck with the aftermarket vent kit can go 200 miles before the needle even moves off the full mark. No way it gets 31 MPG. About the best I can do is 24-25 MPG under ideal conditions.
