Hey Doc:

Hey Doc: In order to keep your job simpler I will just make this one last comment to Gary.

Gary: read this entire thread up to your first post: you will see that everybody was a 4x4 truck owner. YOU insulted them and me with your comments about how we 'Don't get it'. We [the 4x4 drivers] do get it: [you don't]

Liar and Cheat???????

You must have a guilty concience, cause I NEVER called you a Liar, or a Cheat. Where did you see those words or an implication to that effect? You are reading ALOT into my post.

You imply that I've made some attack on your character or integrity, in fact in your infamous 'morals and integrity' post you attacked the character, integrity and morals of all of us who have chosen to get some value from the warrantee that came with our trucks. I suggest you take a dose of your own medicine here.

I simply would like to see informed posts of facts and experiences. Not posts of slap-in-the-face opinions! I thought I was pretty nice in the post of 'there you go again'. I simply asked you to get a little information before you post your opinion. Your first post [in this thread] is a perfect example: everyone of those guys drive a 4x4, so where did the 2x4 vs 4x4 comments that 'we don't get it' come from? YOU!!

You seem to leap to the keyboard before looking to see if what you are about to post is even valid. That post was not valid in anyway except for you to exercise your keyboard.

That is why I posted about doing a search, but maybe I should have asked if you posted on this particular thread by mistake? Was there a 2x4 vs 4x4 fuel mileage thread going on that I missed? And maybe you meant to comment there?

I don't know what you thought you were contributing, but I stand behind my comments and suggestions, and have been applauded behind the scenes by other TDR site readers that agree with my comments toward you.

My last post on this subject. Greg L

From a very happy cummins owner.

This place is about people sharing knowledge and opinions. I love the tdr and It takes all kinds to make a well rounded whole. I can see why greg made his comments. Garys remark was a bit misplaced. I do agree that in gas applications 4x4s are known gas guzzlers. Particulary noticable in the pre 90s rams. 4x4 is not an option for some.

Mileage is a very well discussed subject. It was a big factor in my choosing this wonderful brand of engine. I live in Alaska so 2x4s are a rare breed. I have seen excellent mileage with this masterpiece of an engine. I have also seen horrible mileage with the same engine. best to date 26. worst to date 11. 5. The sad part is the 11. 5 wasnt with a load.

4x4 Cummins are capable of good mileage. When I first purchased this truck I got 17 city(road rage style) and 22-23 highway. This truck has most all the dealer equiped goodies and some additional items that increase the aerodynamic drag.

These torquey 6s are great for passing. They are even better at holding speed in the mountains. This is my first diesel and I feel I will own them the rest of my life.
