EL PASO, TX. , April 4, 2006 -- The MSD Performance Group is excited to announce the acquisition of Edge Products !

Edge Products is the leading manufacturer of diesel performance modules and controllers such as the Juice and Evolution Programmers. Edge is an ideal fit with the MSD Performance Group of leading aftermarket and performance electronic companies. The group, including MSD Ignition, Superchips and Racepak, share a complementary technology base and work together to advance the electronic control and component technology offered to the market.

"With Edge Products joining the MSD Performance Group we will be able to accelerate technology development for each brand,” MSD Performance’s CEO Dan Gresham stated. He went on to say that, “From the market perspective, this significantly increases MSD’s ability to service critical segments of the performance market”.

Paul Lehman, CEO of Edge Products added, "Everyone at Edge is excited to take advantage of all the new opportunities created by this acquisition. From a distribution, customer service and product development standpoint, being part of the MSD Performance Group will take Edge to the next level. ”

El Paso, Texas, based MSD Performance is the most recognized name in performance ignition systems. MSD ignitions are used in professional racing series from NASCAR and NHRA to off-road series as well as on restored muscle and late model.

so, will quality control go up or down?

In my experiences with MSD, the quality would go way down, if they have anything to do with it. And customer service at MSD has always left a lot to be desired. Oh well. Too Bad. Too sad.

I guess this also explains why the VP of engineering at Edge left there two weeks ago.

Methinks the Edge boys saw a fat check and laughed all the way to the bank.

Expect a new Diesel startup with the Edge remnants.

I always had VERY good experiences with MSD quality. Never had to deal with customer (no) service.

The quality of the Edge products has to go up. Much lower and MSD will just have a lead weight. They better stay away from water.

Interesting news. My experience with MSD's products and service has been great. I have installed well over $10,000 worth of their products and have only had one box fail. They overnighted me a replacement. It was actually an update to the product I had and they didn't charge a thing. I've talked to their customer service on numerous occasions and found them knowledgable and helpful. They also went out of their way to help in a couple of projects where I was using their products in conjunction with other products from other vendors and in a manner for which they were never intended.

I've got an old 6a box on an old truck that has over 300k on it. It's been through several vehicles and is still working great.

My family owns two small businesses, and one thing is for sure when you own a business. It's always for sale... for the right price.

I have been starting to see Edge commercials during the Nextel cup and busch races, I figured something was up, Those are some prime high$ ads spots.

I have also had great service with my MSD Ignition system on the race car. Never needed customer service, but I'm sure it would be as good as the product.

Looking forward to seeing what this brings.

Initial quality has to go up with the Edge stuff.

It ain't easy to make the customer have faith in Edge PRoducts when the first time you start the truck after a perfect install and the screen won't light up, or the truck randomly won't start...

My experiance with MSD is there stuff rarely needs repaired, but, when it needs repaired, it takes awhile, but will come back perfect.

I like my MSD6AL Box on my Charger. Only time I had a problem is when I got water in the magnetic pickup wiring. Dried it out and it works great again.

Maybe MSD will intergrate their digital Propane injection with the Egde boxes?

You mean it could get worse??? The only way I can see that happening is to order a box and they send you a science project that you build. Kinda like an old transistor radio. Although, the quality of my work may be slightly higher...

Well I'm out on Edge I guess. I was looking at it for my new 06', but now..... Quality will go down, tech support, what support? Summit, Jegs, ect. will blow-it-out so all the shops that REALLY know the product and how to use it will quit selling it beacuse some *** clown high school drop out in Ohio getting $5. 50 p/h gives it away.

Why not, buy a good name, good product, then stack it deep and sell it cheep.

Dave, can I ask how Edge wronged you? "If I thought you and edge couldn't be friends I just don't think I could bare it"

they didn't wrong me. But rather every one of us. Unless you have a box that is about 3 years old or older, that cheap Chinese production is just garbage. I had been told by one of thier dealers that the way they do failure analisis is to throw a faulty unit in the garbage can.

I have been through 4 boxes in a year and a half. Also, many of my fellow BOMBers tear through them with great speed.

Since going to the Catcher/ TST combo I have had exactly ZERO failures and more power. In addition, I have never come across anyone that has had a TST go bad. So, there must be something in the construction of the Edge products??

I have had mixed results with MSD stuff in the past. Most of the products have held up fine. So, maybe they can save a leaking ship.

To me EDGE = Premium price- Inferior product
