I don't have the cash for a full 4" exhaust right now, so I did away with the stock muffler yesterday and noticed just a tad more power with the seat of the pants meter that what I had. While I had the muffler out, I looked up through the resonator and saw it was a straight shot through, so I left it in.

You can really hear that classic straight 6 diesel sound with the cool sounding turbo whine now! It really isn't too loud at all when driving around town. I should have done this when I got the truck.

Now to save some cash for the DD2's.

Mine fell off this past weekend too. I agree it sounds great and not as loud as I expected. I think that it is going hurt my fuel mileage some because my right foot seems to have gotten heavier since the muffler came off... ... ;)

hehe. . I think the muffler falls into the right foot when U cut it off... Mine lasted almost a week, before it and the CAT fell off... fell into my right boot. . haha...

Stock muffler & CAT with 450 miles on it. . Truck has 16,000... hehee. . ZZZooommmm ZZZZooooommmmm :D :D :D

Go ahead and do it

Go ahead and take the resenator off to. If you think it sounds good with out the muffler just rip off the resenator and let her breath. :D My freind swares it sounds like a 4440 John Deere:p

Big D

Keep in mind that 2. 5" exhaust pipe can only support 250 hp and that is if the pipe is mandrel bent.

Trucks built after 99 have compression bent down pipes.

This means that the stock pipe 2000 and up can only support 225 hp or less.

Keep a cool head and open up the exhaust to 4" before adding andy fuel.

Excuse the PUN.

Thanks for the info, Ted. There is a little voice in the back of my head and it does tell me to go 4" before injectors.

When I do go 4", I will be giving you a call for your system. All the reviews have nothing but excellent things to say about it.

Thanks.

to keep confusion down a little bit. .

12V have catylitic converters from Factory

24V have a resonator from factory (Often confused for a Cat. )

I have dual 3" exhaust on my truck exiting before the rear wheels, no muff, no resonator, just 3. 5" Chrome tips :D

Two 3" pipes flow like a 4. 5" pipe.

Here is my truck page, I have exhaust pics there. (Along with alot of other truck pics)

EDIT: Yes, my truck is loud, and resonates in the cab, but it's just tooooo coool.
