Muffler replacement

I was thinking of changing out my exhaust to MBRP 4". The tailpipe is already 4" and how much really would the down pipe benifit being 1/2" bigger. So what i'm asking is, has anybody just changed their muffler? If you have ,what did you use, and did it fit nicely with the rest of the stock exhaust?

I'm running a MBRP mufler. Works well with a better flow and sound. If you go with the MBRP, you'll need to cut about 4" off you tailpipe at the mufler. Other than that, everythin is straight bolt on. Replacement pipe and mufler use factory hangers, and it's all clamp-on. I'm not bombed other than an air filter and gauges.

I just ordered MK96116 From Dieselperformanceparts.com 4" Straight through muff with an adapter to meet up with stock pipes

I replaced just my muffler with a Magnaflow muffler. Nice deep sound and not too loud.

You have a couple of options, a 2003/04 has a 3. 5 inch down pipe and intermediate pipe, then a 4. 0 tail pipe. Our MBRP MK96116 is technically designed for the 2004. 5+ trucks but will work on a 2003/04 if you are (1) willing to weld in extra material with a MIG welder to compensate for the 1/4er inch dimension difference where the MK96116 and the 3. 5 intermediate pipe join together or (2) get a 3. 5 to 4. 0 adaptor. Or you can get a complete MBRP or AFE system from the turbo out and just start all over. AFE also has a Tom Kat Kit that has a fairly long length of 4. 0 tubing that could replace the majority of your 3. 5 intermediate pipe for even better flow, costs less too.

Does anybody have back pressure readings say at 2000 RPM with stock and with after market? How much advantage is there?

No back pressure reading but my EGT's measured pre turbo dropped 75 degrees at all rpms. Have had my MBRP muffler on for 25,000 miles and still happy-no drone at all.

I am about ready to change mine also, I have an areo turbine,but not sure if i want to go to a muffler shop to get it put on and not like the sound,just looking for a little deeper of a tone. Is the MBRP a do it in your driveway bolt on ?
